UT v. FSU
I thought it was going to be a close game. At this typing is a little more than half way through the third quarter and FSU is up 44 to 7.
UT is having a game similar to what BG experience last week. "It's a bad night to have a bad night" should be the battle cry for this past week.
It also seems that home field advantage is as pronounced in the WAC as it is in the MAC.

Well, before this past weekend people were saying that NIU and Toledo were clearly the two best programs in the MAC. What has transpired since then?
NIU lost to Akron.
Toledo is getting a Boise-type whoopin' and can barely move the ball against FSU's junk ballers.
BOWLING GREEN STATE UNIVERSITY IS GOING TO BE MAC CHAMPS COME DECEMBER.

I have no doubt our offense can kill their defense. I haven't seen enough from their running game to believe that they can get our D. Eh, only 50 days or so till we find out.

Wooooww.
The MAC is.... definitely interesting this year. It will be hard to know what to expect.
On a slightly related note, may I say I'm happy to see no BG posters gloating on the UT board (yet, anyway.... and hopefully, not at all). Sucks to be them.... just like it sucked to be us last week....

I wish I could be so confident. We first have to beat Akron, Miami (on the road) and a UT team which does poorly in OOC road games but somehow always find a way to be in the hunt for the championship.Bleeding Orange wrote:BOWLING GREEN STATE UNIVERSITY IS GOING TO BE MAC CHAMPS COME DECEMBER.
It's going to be an interesting rest of the season. I guess I picked a wrong time to quit sniffing glue.

Seems to me that the MAC is not real strong this year. Then again, it could just be because both of our marquee games were road contests in far away time zones. Those games have to be especially difficult mid-week as well. I still would've liked a better showing by both BG & UT, but such is life in the MAC.
It still appears we're among the weakest conferences in D1A again

Given that Toledo was missing their star QB and their #1 back, they played about as well as you could have hoped. As the announcers kept repeating - the Rockets didn't get outgained and controlled the clock. Do those two things and you'll win 99% of your games. A pick six and a blocked punt are momentum changers and that's what killed 'em.
After seeing that game, it seems clear to me that Toledo will not be suffering any big drop off after Gradkowski graduates.

False starts and personal fouls didn't help much either. They played very conservatively which, I'm sure, had to do with their RS freshman QB. Their OL also did a lousy job of protecting him. There's a part of me that thinks that he was being over coached since every time he went to the sidelines Gradkowski was talking to him. He looked lost and completley rattled.

Not having thier key players, one due to a cheap shot by Temple, who by the way has now hacked two players, and should be facing a petition from MAC fans to not allow them into the mac....sorry for the rant
but not having thier two key guys proves the lack of overall depth that mid majors...us, we face when compaired to the top of the top.
That said I believe had they had Brad in their they would have won, and on the flip side if i am not mistaken....that was Toledos toughest oposition so far....and that said after seeing the game, Toledos line is working well, thier D is about the same as last year, therefore should our team act and play like our team, we should smack down Toledo this year....dare I say Twice!!!

From what I saw of the game Almighty Bruce wouldn't have saved them. Too many turnovers, penalities, etc. (all of which are correctable). It may be that they would have played with more confidence with Bruce in the game, I don't know. All in all, though, they looked pretty inept which is very atypical of recent Toledo teams regardless of who's at quaterback.

True enough 87 Alum. I know that Cochran will be quite capable to lead their team in future years. Their game plan featured high probability pass patterns, and his stats were pretty good....and the fact that all of their turnover problems weren't due to a red shirt freshman being thrown into the fray.
It was a moral dilemma...hoping that Clint would do really well, yet wanting Toledo to still lose.
Their front 7 on D certainly got moved apart at willl too....interesting.
