4 Letter Words are Key

There are two 4 letter words that are the main key (not saying there aren't other keys) to BG's and the MAC's performance so far this year:

HOME and AWAY

We're not like Ohio State and some other teams that look so good because they play 7 and sometimes even 8 home games.

Don't forget the number 65.

The AWAY team only gets 65 players to travel. Only 65 players get to dress. Only 65 players get to take the field.

Being the HOME team definitely has its advantages - one being they have 20+ extra bodies available to them.

I was informed by an OSU fan on the MAC board that OSU does a great job of scheduling and that's why they get 7 and 8 homes games a year.

I tried to tell this misinformed person that OSU was concerned with one thing...the jack. $$$$$$, pure and simple. Then I reminded this choch nugget that OSU has never beaten a MAC team on the road.

those extra 20 palyers never see the field unless it is 55-0

Good thing Temple is coming to the Doty heh? I'd hate to have to keep the 3rd stringers in past the end of the second quarter, just because we couldn't take the extra players ;-)

So, all of us here would be disappointed if BG played more home games?

No, not at all. That wasn't the point.
The point is OSU leaves the 'Shoe approx 4 times a year...cuz they have to play Big 10 road games. Other than that? Not very hard to win at least 6-8 games every year when you never leave home.

OSU has their first road game on 10/8.

Isn't "defense" also considered a 4-letter word for us? :P

Some years Ohio State has one more home game than most high profile, "BCS conference" schools. So what? Would we prefer that they not schedule MAC schools? Also, they usually have a game with a top-10 caliber team - Texas, USC, Miami, etc. And, unlike many other major programs, they don't load up on 1-AA jokes.

Exactly Freak. Level the playing field where each NCAA team plays 6 home and 6 away games every year.

It seems to me that quality of competition is more important than home/ away. Since the NCAA can't mandate equal SOS for all, why worry about mandating the number of home/away games?
