Two new verbals
Two new verbals
According to ESPN we have picked up two new verabls that I haven't seen reported on here. This site look pretty accurate, and from what I can gather those numbers next to the name are the rankings in the region. Looks very good.

There's one on Brighton also but I'm too lazy to look it up.

In 2004, Tongo 60 solo tackles, 4 caused fumbles and 2 sacks. Osahon is known as one of the most devastating hitters in the state of Illinois. Talk to an opposing coach of Tongo’s and the first thing you’ll hear is “He Brings It!”.
look at his solid offers:
My favorites are Northwestern, Stanford, Miami, Illinois, Texas, Wisconsin, Purdue, Louisville and Nebraska. Northwestern would probably be my leader because they have offered me a scholarship.”
Coaches Comments - "Osahon is the real deal. He was 6-1, 195 at the start of his junior season but he hit a growth spurt. Tongo loves to bring it if you know what I mean. When he hits the ball carrier you can see their head fly back, that's what type of player he is. He's going to be a 230-pound linebacker in college. Probably a sam linebacker."

Heres some info a map

Mapp had 119 tackles and 12 sacks as a junior. Lamar shows the ability to be an edge rusher at the next level but he does play the run extremely well also.
Mapp also shows the ability to chase the backside and sniff out screen and swing passes.
keep them coming in!!

Holy crap! Did we get a commit from Tongo? BG isn't on the list of schools of interest on rivals, but a hell of a lot of BCS schools are. If we did, boy...edr4225 wrote:wow tongo looks like hes gonna be a good one, finally some LB speed!!

If ESPN is accurate Tongo is an absolutely HUGE get. The guy is a 3 star defensive player!
Possibly more importantly it doesn't sound as though we're getting him because of academic issues either. Scout.com says he's got a 3.6 and got a 26 on the ACT!
Could it be a bright athlete who also plays defense!?
Unfortunately I'm still skeptical. That ESPN site that is linked simply says "Players Considering Bowling Green". Not sure if those are all supposed verbal commitments or not. I hope so...Tongo sounds like just the type of player we need.

I agree that I am skeptical on this one. With the offers he is getting, it is hard to believe that he would pick BG over those BCS schools. I hope he does because we need a stud LB badly, but I will curb my enthusiasm until I know he signed his commitment letter come February.hammb wrote:If ESPN is accurate Tongo is an absolutely HUGE get. We may have offered him the chance to play right away instead of red shirting. Lord knows we can use him.Warthog wrote:I agree that I am skeptical on this one. They just changed the page and sorted the kids into commits and considering. Tongo is just considering. You would think with that kind of grades he would go to NW, which is right next to his home. Maybe he wants to get away.
All I know is that I want to be the PA that gets to say "Tackle by OsahonnnnnnnTonnnnngo"

Does anyone know what Lakewood prospect we are after....looked to be about 6'2, 210. It was an interesting conversation some guy was having with him that I caught pieces of..."if you want to come to another game, OU would be a good one...all we have to do is figure out....a place to stay..." It seemed like was really putting on the "hard sell" to get this kid in BG's fold.
The weirdest thing about it however was the location...a West Side men's room!
Now what are the rules for motivating these recruits to attend games? who is allowed to do it, because this guy didn't obviously wasn't a member of the coaching staff.
