I believe they used to be called the Eagles before they were called the Mean Green now, or something like that. I could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure that's why you are hearing it.

Yes...The name change was made because of political pressure. You know that the Eagle Lobbyists are pretty strong in DC. They are trying to form a coalition that outlaws any unfavorable depictions of Eagles and are planning to gain more representation by opening their campaign to all bird-type depictions, including falcons, cardinals, blue jays, oriels, mud hens, storks, and hawks (red or otherwise). Miami University's president was quoted as saying "here we go again." In fact, to make amends, Bush is considering changing the national symbol from the bald eagle, to the bald middle-aged white guy.

I think BG should mess with the NCAA since they have so little on their plate to worry about and can focus on the PC of Mascots....
How about we change our logo to a short over weight and heck...balding middle aged white guy. Then call ourselves " The Home TOwn Honkies".

I informed them is was a compliment...they think so highly of BG to use it.
