QB comparison
Help please! Currently in the midst of a little family discussion concerning Marcus Vick VS. our beloved Omar and who is actually better. Not to long ago, I think I remember a website where you could plug in both names and then a bar graph would pop up and compare the two? If anyone can verify this and then provide the website, I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks!
Converting Fort Wayne one fan at a time!!

Marcus Vick is a better passer than his brother, and is better than he gets credit for. Despite being a moron off the field, he's a pretty darn good player.04forheisman wrote:one can throw one can run
I don't think he compares to Omar quite yet, though. If they were both to come out in the draft, I would expect both to be picked in the mid to late first round.
Vick has more upside, Omar is MUCH more polished at this point. I'd put Omar in the top 2-3 college QBs in the country. Vick falls down to the mix with McNeal, Leak, Quinn, etc.

I'm not sure if this is what you were looking for. It doesn't really tell definitively who is better (Though all the stats point in Omar's favor), but it does produce bar graphs based on stats.

You can compare up to 4 QBs based on Yards, Rushing, TDs, INTs, QB rating, Completions, Attempts, YDs/Attempt, and completion % from the 2004 and 2005 season.
Cheers

someone involved me in a serious discussion last friday about why brady quinn will win the heisman next year.hammb wrote:Vick has more upside, Omar is MUCH more polished at this point. i told him it would be anthony turner or omar jacobs.
agree to disagree.
Haha. I don't seriously think any MAC player will ever win the Heisman, but if Omar comes back next year's he's got as good a chance as any MAC player has ever had. He'll have had the hype machine rolling for 2 straight years, and if he puts up the numbers again it'd be his 3rd year of fantastic numbers.patrickbg wrote: someone involved me in a serious discussion last friday about why brady quinn will win the heisman next year.

Right now I think the 3 best QBs are:
Matt Leinart, Omar Jacobs, and Vince Young.
The order of them changes all the time, but I gotta give props to Young for marching into the 'shoe and coming away with a victory. He is amazing in the clutch, but he needs to win this week against his rival to maintain his status. If Vince and/or Omar return next year they will be the highest candidates for next year's Heisman. Omar's biggest rival will be his conference affiliation.
The next list includes guys like:
Marcus Vick, Chris Leak, and Brady Quinn.
All of these guys have been playing some pretty good football so far this season, and I expect them to improve for next year. Right now Leak is on the bottom of this group, IMO. All of these guys could contend for next year's Heisman.
If these are the QB's Omar may be up against next year I really like his chances. No doubt someone from USC will win this year. Which they do deserve nonetheless.hammb wrote:Haha. Leinart is so good. He is a true on-the-field/off-the-field leader. He is a huge role model in California and the US. Plus he is friend wih Jessica Simpson and her (ex)husband so he is OK in my book.
Well, those will be the QBs he's up against. He'll still have to contend with RBs coming into their own like Walker, Peterson, and Hart.patrickbg wrote:

Depending on his role Ginn could be a better candidate next year than this year as well.
Of course Omar's biggest competition will be conference. We would have to split with OSU/UW, and win out the rest of the way for him to have a real shot. I'm not sure if we'll have the horses for that next year. We're losing a LOT of talent, even if Omar sticks around.
Agreed on all levels. I am not saying Omar will win the Heisman next year. But he very wll could be the best QB in the nation and on some levels it could be BG's Heisman to win for him. As a team, as a marketing group, etc.
But he will only be the best if he decides to earn his degree first.
Be cool. Stay in school.
And now you know and knowing is half the battle.

This is Omar's 4th year of college. As long as he's on time, he can probably graduate soon. In fact, I'm pretty sure I read he's doing his practicum now.

I honestly think he could win it next year.
he may be in NY this year while he watches leinart win his second heisman. but he will have his BEST chance next year if he chooses to come back. i don't think ginn will be a factor because the winner isn't decided on speed. peterson and the sooners have the own problems to deal with and he is gradually dropping out of the limelight. there are some other worthy competitors, but none of which are at QB.
who knows?
none of us are experts, except j4h, so we'll just have to sit back and cheer on the falcons so they can take advantage of every possible opportunity.
