What happened to the cannon?

Post by BGorDeath »

What happened to the ROTC cannon? I miss the smoke rings after each score. Anyone know what gives?

Haha - we asked that tonight as well - maybe not enough students to run it since it was over break. ROTC wasn't there in full force like normal...

Yeah, I miss the cannon also, although we have heard something for the past few games. Glad they finally found the Falcon "caw" button though!

I was down by the ROTC guys at the homecoming game, and they said something about an incident with a similar cannon in Texas. It sounded like it was an Army decision to not do it anymore.

I am sure the NCAA has decieded in their great wisdom, that cannon firing constitutes some kind of taunt and is unacceptable...more over a team will no longer loose a game as both win for playing.

and as far as cannon go....we could use a nice 155.....that field gun makes one nice bang....ykes...we might have to put it in the area for the Sebo and aim it North to avoid blowing out the windows on the Stadium Club...lol

My 5 & 6 year olds kept asking about the cannon. They used to love that thing.

Even when I take them to Browns games, they ask where the cannon is. I think they think it's supposed to be at every football game.

I hope they bring it back.

I believe it was two years ago when a homemade cannon blew up (literall miles from my house). It was actually a national news story, and I wouldn't be surprised if it had a bearing on them getting rid of the cannon. Even if they're not going to fire it, why can't we put it on display?

The bottom line is the cannon hasn't been around all that long and what is really missing is the victory bell.

I've said it before and I"ll say it again:

They used the cannon last weekend - so it's not long it's been AWOL for long, just this last game.

They did? I think you were mistaking the fireworks for the canon.
