BG Offense- B
BG Defense-B+
BG Special Teams-Uh.....what special teams?

Wow is our special teams bad. Decent game by the offense , Solich's Bobcats are alot better defensivly than Temple thats for sure. The D stuffing OU's rushing attack to 68 is huge, we haven't held anyone under 100 yds rushing since maybe the Pleiostene Age. Now I don't know how much of that was us being real dominant or the Bobcats losing possibly up to 3 starting offensive lineman during the game. It sure seemed after that 2nd OU O-linman went down we got even more pressure on OU's qb and containing the run. But that aside the effort was very much impressive as was the tackling alot better. Ohio rushed for 360 vs Kent , us to hold them to 68 is definitly good. Some of us posters should go over to the Coach Brandon and offer to coach special teams and we probably couldn't be much worse than what we've been, mainly punt formation blocking and returns, UGH! Oh yeah , why the heck was Turner in on kickoffs?? Is Coach B asking for an injury to our #2 qb?? Kickoffs in general are great places for guys to get injured ala P.J. this year or think Browns TE Kellen Winslow. We better not see PJ at all vs Buffalo. It better be a ton of BJ Lane and Bobby Thomas. Thomas is gonna be a stud , I can feel it. BTW , did it seem like our rushing attack got better with John Lanning came into the game? Culp went out, with what I don't know. I remember hearing Coach Brandon that Lanning at center was going to be a beast, maybe its materializing. :-\

Paragraphs, paragraphs, paragraphs...

I hate our punt formation, and one of these days it will lose us a game if we don't go to a more traditional formation.

Our D was very solid last night...68 yards rushing and 239 total. The D keeps getting better each week.

Offense rolls up 573 yards...

Special Teams are special...but not in the good way. They really need to improve.

Solid win and now BG is in the driver's seat for the MAC East title!!

Time to shuffle off to Buffalo....C ya there.

GO FALCONS!! TRASH THE BULLS!!

Defense: Showing improvement, even better if even more improvement shown in subsequent games.
Offense: Needs to get better at crunch time if we're going to win the championship.
Special Teams: I don't know much about football but I would say our punting scheme just doesn't work, our field goal kicking is really lousy, and our coverage on kickoffs leaves a lot to be desired.

If our offense yesterday doesn't grade out to an A than what does? 31 first downs and 573 total yards along with 5-6 red zone scores and possesed the ball for 33:14 to Ohio U's 26:46. Ask Pittsburgh what they would grade that kind of performance against OU since they had only 13 first downs and 268 total yards along with getting shut out except for a kickoff returned for TD.

I think a lot of this is due to the fact that people are understandably used to an offensive ejaculation week in and week out. And, while our total yards and first downs in the end were impressive, the passing game wasn't nearly as accurate as it could have been (what was Omar, 24-41?) and we punted a lot more than normal. As scary as it is to say, we should have had much better offensive numbers - and thats no lie.

Seemed to me we racked up a lot of yards & first downs, but struggled to put long enough drives together to score. This is, of course, hampered by our inability to kick a FG. Suisham would've likely made the missed one, and would've also lined up for a 50 yarder downwind, where we went for it, and failed, on 4th down.

I wouldn't give our offense an A, because we know they can do better. They played well enough to win with the defensive effort we got, and I'd much rather have strong defense and only good offense than great offense with lousy defense.

As you stated, Omar's accuracy was a little off (tough BG wind), and there were some dropped balls as well. I don't worry about the offense much, but they can play better than they did. They set their bar VERY high :)

Omar missed some deep throws. He had what would have been an outstanding game for most quarterbacks. But he's capable of better.

Could have been much better?....wonder how many Division 1 teams scored over 30 points on Saturday.

It's all relative, pardner.
