Akron @ Miami

First off, I put this here because this is an important game for us to pay attention to for the MAC East race. So far this season I haven't been too impressed with Miami, but this is a must win game for them, cuz if they loose they can kiss whatever chance they have at winning the MAC East goodbye. Akron has been impressive one week, then didn't show up for most of the Buffalo game, and I'm curious to see how they do down at Miami, especially with it being Miami's Fall break. I think this will allow us to see the strengths and weaknesses of two VERY important opponents for us. If Akron wins, they're right behind us in the MAC East (I don't see Ohio winning at CMU), and they'll be coming to BG wanting to take the lead. Miami wins, and not a whole lot changes, but it means they are still alive in the race for the MAC East. Predicitions? Comments? Personally, I'm rooting hardcore for Akron to beat the living daylights out of Miami

I really don't think that Akron, with the way they are playing right now, have much of a chance to win this one on the road. They are really struggling offensively right now, and Miami is playing decent right now, especially at home. If this were earlier in the year, I would say that Akron had a shot, but not this week. I say Miami by at least two touchdowns.

Smart money is on Miami. Despite the big home win against NIU, it appears that Akron doesn't quite have its footing yet.

I'll be rooting for Miami. Miami already has 2 MAC losses and if the Zips lose in Oxford, they'll have 2 MAC losses as well. Have CMU defeat Ohio and the Bobcats have 2 MAC losses. BG beats Buffalo to go to 3-0 MAC. We'd definitely be in a great position with that situation.

I'm with you Freak. As much as I hate to say it, I think a Miami win is the best thing for us at this point.

I love the concept. Let's make it happen!

This is an interesting game. On paper, it's probably the best MAC matchup of the week. I guess I'll be pulling for Miami as well since Miami has already lost twice, and Akron just once. Either way, BG needs to beat Buffalo to keep our place atop the MAC East.

Betts has been less then stellar this season and yet Miami still has one of the most balanced offenses in the MAC... they just play defense slightly better then BG...

I think BG should feel lucky getting their MAC west opponents.

BG hasn't impressed me except for the first game of the season, so I guess both teams have a lot to do.

Not me, I'm rooting for Akron. They have one loss already and we get them at home. When ( ) we beat Akron, they will have at least two losses. We would have to lose three MAC games for them to beat us.

If Miami wins, they still only have two losses. If they beat us down there, we are left with no wiggle room. We have to win all our MAC games to win the East (assuming Miami wins out). Miami is the only real threat we have and they are also our only tough road game. I would rather see them get there third loss and be eliminated, for intents and purposes. I don't want to be in a position where we are coming off a loss to Maimi and have to beat Toledo to win the East.

Just my thoughts. Feel free to disagree.

I agree, and thats exactly my line of thought as well. I want us to have EVERY advantage possible going into that game, no ifs, ands, or buts. If that means having to wait till the end of the month to hand Akron another MAC loss, fine, I'll take it. Miami is our biggest threat in the East, and knocking them out early can only help us. I really hope the Akron team that beat NIU shows up this weekend, because they will need it.

Many times I post to a thread after reading only the posters post. I am happy that I took the time to this one, and must say I am on board with Freak. We could stand the parity of loses for all those teams esp those we have beaten as we get closer and closer to our sch stiffening up at the end. i like that our sch starts hard, soften up a bit so we can reload then stiffens up as we head in to the end of the season building us up for post season match up.

BG wins the East. The MAC finally makes enough 'Miami Rules' to piss off the Miami admin. Miami threatens to leave the MAC, and Chryst buckles under pressure, and awards the MAC East title to Miami, on a small, obscure and little know technicality. Miami goes on to spank NIU in the MACC.

Just read in the Cleveland PD that Miami still isn't without hope. Their 2 MAC losses are from West teams (CMU & NIU) and they could still win the East via tie breaker. Guess we get help either way!

Bottom line...BG? Just keep winning games and it will take care of itself!

GO FALCONS!!!
