CFN has BG bowling in San Diego

I don't buy into these bowl projections this early on (as many will change in the next couple weeks), but CFN has BG playing Utah in San Diego in their current bowl projections. I could certainly handle a trip to beautiful San Diego at the end of December to see some BG football. :)

Why the heck would Boise State be in the MAC slot of the GMAC Bowl?

Because if I remember correctly, the GMAC Bowl has a choice between the MAC or WAC team, or something like that. So if a WAC team were picked, a MAC team would get a WAC spot....or something along those lines.

theres a lot of things wrong with those projections right now...i dont see how it can have OSU in Fiesta Bowl right now while PSU is #1 in big 10? I dont see BG going to san diego over mobile or detroit..i'd rather go to mobile.

it has michigan going to detroit..at this pace michigan isnt going to be bowl eligible. if they beat PSU this weekend then i might agree that they can get a bowl game.

Again, this thread was started simply to show only one place's projected picks - not even half way through the season. I just thought it was fun to see BG picked to play someone besides Mobile or Detroit. Not that there is something wrong with those places, but it would be cool to play in another bowl aside from these two from time to time. But I'll take Mobile or Detoit over nothing any time.

I think the bowl picture will be clarified quite a bit after this weekend and we'll be able to start making some guesses. If I were a betting man, I'd say the MAC doesn't seem likely to get any at-large bowl bids this years, at least not at this juncture.

And someone mentioned the GMAC Bowl tabbing Boise State. My understanding is that the GMAC wanted to leave a slot open for the WAC in the event La. Tech became bowl eligible. But didn't La. Tech leave the WAC?

Anyway, the GMAC will very likely have a MAC rep; they seem pleased with the way the conference has supported the bowl.

No, Lousiana Tech is still in the WAC. There was talk it might be moving to another conference, but it's still in the WAC.

i realy doubt that the big 11 will live up to their spot to fill in det any time soon, but if Mich....were to play tol or us or niu there...that might as well be the big house with a roof to keep all the noise inside.....
i actually see some big east flunky team filling the spot... I totally see Rutgers making the trip.

Louisiana Tech wanted to join Conference USA, but the league decided to take Texas-El Paso, instead.

And Louisiana Tech has too much pride (or hubris) to join the Sun Belt.

Staying in the WAC has to be like burning money, but that's what Louisiana Tech is doing right now.

si's projections have us in the motor city playing WV....but this was a preseason projection
http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2005/f ... ojections/

I would like to a BG WV game that would be good. I also see for some conferences the same problem as last year with them not having enough Bowl Eligable teams again opening up some spots for at large teams, but with the MAC over all not wining as many of thier OCC games this year I can see the WAC filling some of those spots and having a turn.

MACMAN:
I'm not so sure about a shortage of bowl-eligible teams this year. I think we'll know a lot more come this Sunday.
