Info from the "Meet the Team"

My son and I went out to Dunhams this morning. Got there a few minutes after 11 and there was about 10 players there. They had chairs and tables set up for about 25-30 and that is about what I expected. Didn't think any of the "stars" would be there. But as we waited in line, more and more players were showing up. By about 11:30, the entire team was there. I was really surprised to see that. It is really amazing to see how big some of these guys really are. I chatted with Andy Grubb briefly (since I am from Leipsic originally and he is as well, I thought I would introduce myself), and afterward my son said "Dad , he is like a head taller than you and his shoulders are twice as wide!" And I am not a small person :( Most of the guys were real friendly asking my son's name and if he played football. I think this was really a great event for the kids. Anyway, a few other things:

1. Asked Rob Warren about his knee and he said he was doing ok and expects to play next week.
2. Cole was wearing a boot on his right foot.
3. Jimmy Carson was there. :? Guess he wasn't kicked out of school or off the team.
4. Derrick Lett had a noticable limp when he came in.

Ditto, Warthog. Great event by the Falcons. Had my eight year old there. All the players were super nice to him. One asked him if he was going to play football and what position. My son said, "Defensive Back." Half the guys sitting near there chimed in "DEFENSE!" approvingly. Then, someone said, "No kid has ever said he wants to be on the offensive line."

Andrew Hart was super nice to us. Derrick Lett is very outgoing.

Lots of nice times. Players really tried to talk to the kids and make it a special moment.

By the way, W-hog, I heard someone mention Leipsic. I think we were right in front of you in line.

Thanks to the Falcons, it was a nice morning. We're going to have the heavily autographed poster framed.

We do have some big fellas.

I missed the event, even though "we" partially sponsored it, but I was told it was very nice and that the guys handled themselves well. The managers at Dunhams thought around 70 of the guys made it out at some point . . .

As for the other things mentioned . . .
-Warren is in my Monday night class and has been wearing a boot, but over the weekend, seemed to be fine and did not have it on . . .
-Don't know anything about Cole
-Just b/c Carson was there, doesn't mean that is isn't done . . . I'm not sure he is . . . I think there's still the Judicial Affairs process to be worked out, but I would say always remember Innocent until proven Guilty, except maybe in this case . . .
-Derrick Lett from my interactions with him and the times I've seen him usually has some sort of an unusual gait to him . . . I don't know if it's a pimp walk or what, but he appears to be one of quirky ones of the group, but a pretty decent guy.

You know, I hesitated posting my thoughts about Lett because I thought that it might be exactly what you said. PIMP WALK! LOL! :supz: 8)

The event most likely tripled the number of people normally in that mall.

The event was sponsored by Dunhams so it was in the corridor right outside their mall entrance, by Sam Goody and the Karate place. When we left, I thought we should at least walk through Dunham's to see how things were going inside. I don't think we saw one customer! There were three salespeople standing aroung the register with nothing do. Our mall sucks.

Yes. Yes it does. I had high hopes for it, but I think the only thing that will save it is another anchor store, some more food on the out-lots, and an interchange up Newton road. The projected retail outlet next to the horse barn might help, if it ever gets built. Levis Commons might draw some retail that can afford to get into it. However I deem that unlikely.

What is up with all the inuendo and rumors? Can anyone get their stories right? Its starting to bug me. Certain posters have said all this stuff about Carson being totally done and gone, and yet he supposedly appears with the team at an event at Dunhams. What the heck is true anymore?

Well, I don't know about inneundo. All I know is I saw him there and my son got his autograph. Unless it was a clever Jimmy Carson impersonator.

I find it hard to believe that Carson would still be with the team at an event if he indeed did all this stuff we're hearing. Just doesn't make sense. :coo-coo:

Brandon is mostly likely playing it safe . . . I would only ASSUME Carson can show up to event's like "Meet the Team" and the like until he has his case heard in front of Judicial Affairs. If the story that comes from the female officer is correct, then Mr. Carson is most likely done as a BG football player.

Vandelay, like him or not, is a decent source with pretty good information most of the time. I would think only a formality is keeping Carson on the team at this point.

"Q. Is there any final word on Jimmy Carson?

A. Jimmy has asked for his release, so he won't be with us."

So, that should spell it out.
