Where the heck are Sharon and Sanders?

I keep hearing Lett and Ruiz's names, but I have not heard either Chuck or Steve's names called. If these guys aren't getting the job done, go to your veterans!

B.O.,
I've spent about the past 45 min. or so looking thru the irate posts about the game etc. As to your question re: Sanders and Sharon, they have, unfortunately, become the ONLY primary receivers in our offense... I seriously believe that what we're seeing now is the result of the loss of Magner and Hawkins and MacGrady from last year's WR corp., providing a great deal of both experience and depth.... This year, we started out talking about a great many WR's on the team....but only Marques Parks and Corey Partridge, among the young WR's, have been able to contribute much to the offense, and, not disparaging them, aren't yet at the experience level of the 3 guys who graduated. On top of that , Partridge has been playing hurt with ONE bad shoulder since the Wisky game, and went into the game on Sat. with TWO bad shoulders when he wasn't even supposed to play. And unfortunately, Marques Parks' season came to an end in front of our bench last nite as a result of a broken leg.
So, Chuck and Steve are seeing more double teams , and I can tell you that Sanders in particular took a couple of truly NASTY hits yesterday, at least one of which, IMO, should've been a personal foul call....yet, they get up, come back and line up again.... It's now up to the rest of the WR corp to step it up and provide some of the depth that we are suddenly lacking big time.... And if you HS fanatics know about some quality WR's playing this year, let us know...because some starting jobs sure as heck will be open BIG TIME next year.

Good point, 61. I wasn't really trying to be irate, just voicing a bit of frustration. It does make sense that Chuck and Steve are recieving a lot of double teams now. I wish Corey was healthy. :(

I guess I was just suprised that, as it sounded on the radio, Chuck and Steve were seemingly not on the field. They are two of the best recievers not only in the conference, but in the country. If there are any two recievers I know that can beat a double team it is these two guys.

I'm really not one to be irate about this loss. As TG accurately pointed out earlier, we have never had to deal with the loss of a QB to injury since Harris was here. Consequently, it is a situation that our current coaching staff and players have never had to deal with. Should they have been ready? Of course, and from the sounds of his interview, no one feels that way more than Anthony Turner. I guess I'm willing to cut the guys some slack here with the hope and expectation that they will learn from this painful experience.

I don't think we'll ever see AT unprepared for a game again. That kid is a gamer with a TON of talent. It may be a consequence of my youth and not having experienced the 1995 season, but I don't get the feeling that this is the beginning of the end for this successful version of BG football. With young guys like AT, Magner, Partridge, Macon, Smith, Parks, Antonio Smith, etc. on this team, I think we are looking pretty darn good for quite some time to come. Many of these guys have already exhibited a great deal of talent, and that will only improve with increased playing time and game experience. In my mind, the sky is firmly cemented in place and the ghost of Blackney is still somewhere very far away from Bowling Green, Ohio. Take it from an aspiring historian - one game, no matter how reminiscent of a past game, will not produce the same results. For example, no matter how similar the ideological geneses of the Korean and Vietnam wars were, the outcomes were very, very different.

Bump.

I think a few people around here need to read my above comments. Are they 100% accurate? No, but I think we need to consider the talent that still is on this team.
