Watch what you wish for.......
This is my first post an probably last because I'm not one to view my opinion in this type of forum. But I am so frustrated that I had to comment on this current situation. I have seen so many posts this year from people indicating that they wish A.T. would get more playing time for Omar. Well to all those people, you got your wish today. Hope you like what you saw. Not blaming the loss on A.T. or even saying he played poorly, but this team obviously isn't going anywhere without Omar, and if it took today for you to see that then you don't know football very well. When Omar walked off the field the air completely went out of both the fans and the team. The grass is not always greener on the other side now is it???? Be careful what you wish for!!! Go BG and pray Omar comes back soon,
I don't know that anyone wished Turner would get playing time INSTEAD of Omar, I think everyone was hoping we could have put away a few teams that we *should* have (Balls Tate, Buffalo) so that Anthony Turner could have gotten some reps in live action in case a situation like today arose, he could be ready. Once he got settled, AT did fine, unfortunately, it was too little too late.

Were you at the game? Did you see his performance? I would hardly call it "fine." Yes, he has had very little playing time, but geez his performance was poor. But it was not his fault the ENTIRE team played poorlyTG1996 wrote:I don't know that anyone wished Turner would get playing time INSTEAD of Omar, I think everyone was hoping we could have put away a few teams that we *should* have (Balls Tate, Buffalo) so that Anthony Turner could have gotten some reps in live action in case a situation like today arose, he could be ready. No, I was not at the game. Granted, that can shade my opinion of things, but to me, following online, he SEEMED to get it together down the stretch, and it was my understanding that there were some drops early. Maybe I'm way off (and I'm sure you'll have no problem telling me I am), but it seemed like he did okay as the game went on.

He displayed some good abilities, lots of dropped passes (not his fault) but he didn't look comfortable, which comes from his lack of playing time. Furthermore the entire team gave up when OJ left. And one player who has very little playing time cannot be expected to win a game like the one that took place tonightTG1996 wrote:No, I was not at the game. The "didn't look comfortable" is obviously the part I couldn't judge from GameTracker. You're pretty well dead on with the rest, though if it's true, I'm very disappointed at the giving up when Omar went down...FalconFanatic wrote:He displayed some good abilities, lots of dropped passes (not his fault) but he didn't look comfortable, which comes from his lack of playing time. It looked almost like he was scared to be hit. He would be running, and Western players would approach, and he'd just dive into the ground and not keep running. :ugh:

But still.

Turner was jittery back in the pocket and didn't seem to make his decisions very quickly. It was like he was waiting for someone to break wide open on every play instead of just throwing the ball to someone who was open enough to make a catch. He missed alot of throws high and missed some fairly easy throws, but he did look good at times as well. He also had 2 big 3rd down drops on his first 2 series by Brantley and Lett that may have affected his confidence a little bit.
To the original purpose of this thread, though, I don't think anyone on here wants to see Anthony Turner in there in a tight game over Omar Jacobs. As others stated, we merely wanted to get him some experience in blowout situations, which he got today.

I was a little concerned (I was past being annoyed and p***** off) when we had Turner running the ball on our last series. Just hand the ball off and don't get hurt at that point. You don't want to lose 2 qb's in a game especially when you're trying to redshirt the third guy.
I wonder if Van Johnson will be moved back to qb or to wr this week as an insurance policy since he's not seeing the field at db.

Very good point and one that I had not considered. Will Myles played WR for a while last year or a couple years ago. Why not move him back over there? He hasn't seen the field all year.Tswam wrote:I wonder if Van Johnson will be moved back to qb or to wr this week as an insurance policy since he's not seeing the field at db.
