Oh, the things I know
1. Two players actually participated in the chicken dance between the 3rd & 4th qtr.
2. Our two kickers were laughing and chatting with fans in the 4th qtr.
3. One freshman player (who is being redshirted) sat on the trainers table, swinging his legs during the 4th qtr.(he must have been bored)
4. Coach Bowers walked the sidelines with his hands in his pockets (must have been having Kent State flashbacks)
5. Coach Brandon inspired the team after the game by telling them they just needed to "work harder" and they still control their own destiny.
6. Most of this team was so devistated by being humiliated, that they went out to party.
As long as Gregg Brandon is the coach and has assistants like Bowers this is what you get. They are nice people. Love their kids and don't beat their wives. But they are not good coaches.
Certain players like them because they don't demand anything from you. Everything that Urban Meyer brought to BG is gone. There are only a few players left who understood. Coach Brandon thought UM was too hard on players and coaches. Um once said in an interview, " I don't want nice guys around me. I want competent ones that hate to lose". The coachs don't hate to lose. It doesn't make them sick. To them, it's just part of the game.
And so you get games like last night. Nobody was too upset. It happens. It's just a game.
If this is what the team and the football community want, than we should look for a coach in the mold of Stuart Smally. One who's motto is "I'm smart enough, I'm good enough, and gosh darn it, people like me!".
Oh, wait a minute, we already have that guy as coach and his brothers coach the D & st's.
The only good thing about this season is that it will be over before Thanksgiving.

I'm still too depressed to convey everything I'm thinking. It's still a swirling mess anyway.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but it appears Gregg Brandon's contract runs through the end of 2008. I think it was extended after the Motor City Bowl win -- but I can't find anything about it being extended after the GMAC Bowl win.
It seems to me we can complain all we want. It doesn't matter. We are married to Brandon, for richer or poorer, in sickness and in health, for better or worse,
If someone has $400,000 to spare, it would probably be better spent on the Sebo Center, anyway.

Re: Oh, the things I know
I needed a drink after last night's game, so I'm sure the players needed a couple as well.Falconwise wrote:6. Most of this team was so devistated by being humiliated, that they went out to party.

You obviously don't have a clue. That wasn't just a loss and I'm not talking about going out and having dinner with your family; having a beer.
They were out celebrating. They don't get it. The coach's don't get it. They should have had an 11:00 p.m. curfew. Been at the stadium for tapes at 6:00 am. THEY WERE HUMILIATED AS A TEAM!!!!!
The coach needed to tell them that. They need to be told that words are empty. They are only as good as they play. Brandon gave a two minute pep talk.
I have played Division I Football. As a team, they have no leadership. Not from the coaches or from the capitains.
You control your own destiny? At this point of the season, after a loss like that those are the words of a loser who has no answers.

The reason is that players going out last night makes it look like they don't care about getting embarassed. I'm sure they do care and I'm sure some did sit in the dorm rooms sulking last night. Sadly, I think some members of this board (myself included) take losses harder than some of the players and coaches. Some may say that is sad or pathetic, but I believe it is true. Just my opinion.BGSUVA wrote:What? College studnets partied on a Saturday night? OMG...I can't believe that. What did u expect them to do, just sit around their dorm room sulking? And the team still does control their own destiny, so I don't see why you brought that up

I was not coherent enough for last night's game to make any specific observations, but I do know that this is the thing that's bugged me for the past 3 years with coach B. If I was coach there is no way the players would've been going out last night, because they would've been running. They would've been running until they passed out, at which point I would've carried them into the film room to watch film of what just happened.
Last night's game was an embarrassment, and I would want my players to be embarrassed. I don't want anyone associated with my football program that takes losing as lightly as this team seems to. As somebody said we have no leadership, plain & simple.

Well hell, let's just call the season a bust. What's the damn point in showing up if we've already lost?
Seriously people, it's our first conference lost. You'd think the A-Bomb just got drop over the Doyt. The conference has a lot of parity this year. Central Michigan (CMU?!) knocked off Miami and has a chance to go to the MACC. If they beat Toledo this Saturday.
I think everyone knows I have serious issue with Brandon as our coach, but my name isn't Paul and I'm not an AD. He's our coach and I will continue to go to the games, cheer loud, and support them. Are the rest of you giving up?

BGDrew, you rock!
I cannot believe all of the negativity about this team. They need support. Not a bunch of alumni, students, and fans telling them what they should be doing, or how Coach Brandon should be coaching.
Most of you suck as fans. This is disgusting. I can name only a few on here that remain positive and know it sucks when we lose, but do not declare the world is over.
On a side note Chicken Little will soon be in theatres. Maybe we should plan an AZZ night at the Woodland Theatre.
