Didn't that happen during a BG-Miami game up there a couple of years ago? I think that's where we got this clip of one of Steve Baker's all-time best play-by-play calls.

I'm not a fan of the 'rabbit on the field' cheering. When people cheered more for that than for the play of the team (this happened between the first and second quarter, IIRC), it tells me how uninterested they were in the football game. People cheered for a frickin' rabbit but couldn't get involved enough in the actual game to try to give our team an emotional lift. Sad.

Yeah, that was kind of my point. We can't get the place loud to help our defense on a third down, but we can go nuts when a rabbit crosses the goal line. :shrug:

That rabbit has hit the field every game this year. He even got up in the stands about an hour or so before the Ohio game when no parents were in their section yet.

When I was at the field this summer, I noticed there was a rabbit's nest over by where our trainer's table sits for games. When I got close, mama rabbit made her way over to watch me. I assume it's the same mama rabbit we all saw on the field because the nest is no longer there and she's probably confused.

Too bad we couldn't have thrown an orange jersey on mama rabbit and gave her a football....she crossed the goal line more times than we did. Plus, she sure knows how to fire up our crowd.

Sadly, it's the best job our poor excuse for a PA announcer has done all season.

I was standing and cheering on all the third downs... one of the few people in my area who did. I also felt bad that people paid more attention to the rabbit than to the play on the field. However, I did watch the rabbit a lot, since I was afraid it would get trampled by the players so I am guilty of it too.

He was pretty excited about that, wasn't he? Well in all honesty, it was more excited than WMU disecting us on our home field, maybe I shouldn't be too hard on the people who were watching the rabbit.

Speaking of critters on the field:

At a Richmond Roosters Frontier League baseball game, play was stopped three times when a skunk paid a visit to centerfield. The centerfielder for the Roosters tried to shoo the beast off the field but the skunk was not to be denied and turned on the young Rooster.

No one, including Deion Sanders and Herb Washington, has ever run faster on the ballfield than that player avoiding the skunk.

I heard an intern with the Roosters say, "Not again. Hell with this, I'm outta here." and he ran into the bathroom to hide.

Considering the Falcons play on Saturday, a skunk would've been more appropriate than a bunny.

We had a groundhog run onto the field during a baseball game at Virginia last year. It made it's way to the center field wall, and play continued once it got out that far. Everyone was cheering him on as he ran onto the field in between innings. It was funny watching the center fielder keep looking over his shoulder out there at him though. The groundhog lived under a shed at the stadium and the groundscrew people said as long as it wasn't damaging the field, they weren't going to move it. Two days later, it got hit by a car by one of the players leaving the stadium on the service road......RIP little buddy.

Sorry, I have to vote for the rabbit. We dug ourselves such a huge hole that the game became very painful to watch.
