Why we need to beat this dead horse once more

Yes, I'm talking about attendance.

I know a lot of folks are concerned with the attendance in the wake of the WMU meltdown. And they should be.

But a good crowd Saturday is more important than ever. It's always been my belief that teams that are struggling can feed off the crowd and significantly step up their game. This especially seems true on defense.

There's no doubt we're struggling, especially on defense. A good crowd - not huge, just a decent turnout and good volume/energy - could be the difference between the Temple game and the WMU game.

It's clear that there's not much we can do. Those of you who are going will be there and make as much noise as possible, I'm sure. But we can't drag the students there and they are the ones that will make the difference.

I hope I'm wrong, but I have a bad feeling that our homefield advantage won't be as large as we want it to be Saturday.

If we get perfect weather, which it is looking good, I would still be shocked to see 15k there.

It's looking like we're a mediocre football team. As much as I wish it weren't true we have a hard time getting many people to come out and support us if we're mediocre. Heck we cannot get good support when we're really, really good.

We'll be there and will be doing our part. The weather looks like it will be nice, so I guess we'll find out how many fair-weather fans jumped off the bandwagon last week. I'm hoping not many since we are still in first place and in the running for the MACC.

crowds are huge...look at virginina tech in 03...they get humiliated by West Virginia, next week they get #2 Miami at home, and their crowd is huge and very loud, and they beat Miami 31-7. same thing we UVA this year, play like crap against MD and BC, get home against #4 FSU in one of the loudest crowds ever at Scott, and beat them...crowds do make a huge difference

Okay I'm up for a little more dead horse beating.
Image You pegged it Alum, volume and energy are what we lack big time. The crowd that is there could be a little more animate than what they have been.

Once again the point is, don't bitch about a problem if you are a part of it. The team needs help from begining to end. Not just the first half, not just when they run out to start the third. The Sebo center and AD needs money. One way to help even if you don't directly donate is to go to games and pay admission. Getting in free after the half does nothing to support the program. God you head must be as hard as a rock, or maybe this is you.

i hope we can light them up. I believe a lot of the fans come to see the huge lopsided victories. I believe those victories have stimulated the base, and that this week, in conjunction with the glimps of the future, we should see a similar 14k at the game...but oddly that 14k seems to look like a lot more when you are there.

I think the blowouts of the last couple years have done a lot to take the fans' emotion out of the game. We thought it would be a blowout. It was by the end of the first quarter. There was no need to get into the game or get fired up. Maybe last week's loss will show some people that we need to do more than "show up" as fans, but rather we need to be rowdy and into the game from the opening kickoff. I would take a good crowd of 5,000 that has a pulse over the crowds of 15,000 that we have had thus far this year.

I was sitting with my dad last Sat. on the east side of the stadium and at the beginning of the game there were a couple of plays BG made that we stood up and cheered for, I know that is hard to believe during that game, and I remember telling my dad to look around and it was almost shocking that not only was nobody else standing but they were doing absolutely nothing. I think my exact words were "What the hell is going on here!!!".

I only know one way to cheer,

LOUD!!!

I know I can't make it to as many games as I'd like, but you'd better believe I make up for lost time! It ain't a good game if you can still talk after the band plays Beer Barrel!
