Does anyone have any info on Eastwood QB Kevin Leady? He is class of '05 and has verbally commited to BG. This is all I've seen:
Comments: Offers from BG, EMich. 1962 yds and 15 tds passing 1445-26 rushing as jr.

Kevin is NOT coming to BG to play football, in fact he is not going anywhere to play football. He has decided to concentrate on playing college baseball, and I certainly hope it is at BG.
He currently has a slight shoulder separation and did not play in the game against Elmwood last week.

Factman, where did you get the info that he is NOT coming to BG to play football?

This is the first I've heard about him not playing college football anywhere. I know at the time they said his verbal to BG was "soft" but aren't they all this time of year? But I never heard anything to make me believe he woudln't play football at all.
I was planning on going to the Elmwood-Eastwood game Friday to watch him (I'm an Elmwood grad), but I didn't end up going when I read about the shoulder issue. I hope he comes to BG, he must be a pretty special talent to get D1A scholly offers from the SLL.

That's kind of what I was thinking too hammb. If he is getting I-A offers as a QB after only playing there for one season, he certainly wouldn't have already made a decision not to play football in college. That just doesn't seem too smart.

I do know that his HS coach told our football staff that he was not going to play football, and Kevin called last week to tell them. I was also told this by one of his high school assistant coaches, among other sources.
It is VERY sound information.
I do think there is a good chance you will see him in a BG baseball uniform.

Actually, the BG football staff has known this for a couple weeks.
This is not necessarily a bad thing. We are pretty well set at QB for the next 4-5 years, baring any injuries, and it is VERY tough to play football and baseball, especially if you are a QB, and I think he realized this.
Kevin has great speed and a very good arm, and can be a dual position player (pitcher/fielder) in baseball, so he still may be Bowling Green's gain.

Ok, factman, I will take your word on it. And this all happened before he got hurt? Wonder why he changed his mind about playing football all together?

I am not saying he could NEVER change his mind again!!!

Ok call me the smartass on the board, but maybe Leady came to the SEMO game and realized that not only is Anthony Turner eligible . . . He's only a freshman and #2 on the depth chart.
I work with a kid from Eastwood and have not gotten the "not playing football" vibe, but I'll see what I can do.

He told the football staff prior to the SEMO game!
Call Coach Rutherford if you don't believe me Option. I wouldn't rely on "some kid from Eastwood".

still, he probably sees that we are set at QB for a while, which may deter soem QB prospects for us for the next year or 2
Maybe...

he has the opportunity to play professional baseball right out of high school, so he's focusing his effort on that sport. Maybe he also reallized his true love is baseball. Hmmmm...
