That was some imaginative playcalling there near the end of the game wanst' that? I never woulda thought that the same stinking 5 yard out pass would be a good idea when its 2nd and 20. Would you guys?

It could be a good call, if everyone's dropping back. Since they clearly were doing the opposite of that, its a bad call. They did not trust AT to throw the ball downfield with the game on the line, and that made us really easy to defend at the end.

I'm not going to be quiet about this any more. Coach Stud needs to go back to coaching the line. The decisions coming from the booth in big time situations are male-cow do do (bulls***).

The play calling today was horrible!!! Just terrible!!! Be played so conservative today, it made my beloved Chicago Bears' offense look explosive!

I agree with Metz.... Throwing a screen to your wide receiver on 2nd and 20 is just not how to play the game. We had an opportunity to score and win the game but the plays were just little chip shots.

I had the same feeling at the end of the game and stupidly screamed at Stud in the booth...but after I talked to a former BG player I realized that in many cases there were plays called, with five wide-outs mind you, where downfield passes were available but that the QB did not throw the ball...but you are going to have this with a young kid.

If he is not confident throwing the ball downfield he is going to throw the short-ball...even on 3rd and long...just relax and give the kid some time.

Me either. Looking at the play by play chart, I don't think it happened either. The 4th and 2 play on the last "real" drive was a pass to Pope for -1, the third down play right before it was a pass to Pope for 9 yards.

I *was* glad to see O'Drobinak get some touches, especially the TD on a play that's probably been available for use alot more times than we've seen it. Maybe the third straight run up the middle on fourth and goal would have been nicer as a play action fade to the TE... Of course, hindsight being what it is, and the direct snap play being successful just enough to not *totally* hate it.

At one point late, I think it was about 3rd and 8, the guy behind me said something like "I wonder what play they'll run here." I turned around and said "The play they SHOULD run? Or the one they WILL run?" Sure enough, here comes the pass out of the backfield 3 yds behind the line of scrimmage for a gain of two, tops.

Ome point to consider on the swing pass to PJ on 4th and 2, Sanders whiffed on a block on #8 (the guy who tackled PJ) and Warren looked a little late in getting over there....if Sanders makes his block, that leaves PJ with one guy (#43 I think) to beat to move the chains.

Sometimes it isn't so much the play as the execution...sure a swing pass on 4th an 2 looks like a bad idea on paper, but look at this way; if you want to throw downfield you're putting a lot of responsibility in the hands of a freshman QB who's struggled throwing downfield or you can make a safe throw to a RB (over a blitz as it turns out) and put your fate in the hands of three of your Seniors (Pope, Sanders and Warren) going up against two defenders.

In that context, I don't have a problem with the play that was called....

I think patickbg was in the chat room and mysterious started saying we ran a double reverse on fourth and two. I knew he was joking since I was listening to the game, but I think RUIT was getting his updates from the other folks in the chat room.
