1 MAC Team in Bowl Projections

Only 1 MAC team is currently projected to get a Bowl game and that's Marshall at the Motor City Bowl. They have the WAC getting the GMAC Bowl. This must be due to how poor the MAC has played thus far and how well the WAC has played. We need to control our own destiny and make sure we win the MAC. Winning the West and not the MAC could have us sitting at home in December.

That being said, we first need to beat NIU.

they dont even have their stuff together there. MCB is MAC #1 v. Big 11
and GMAC is MAC/WAC v. CUSA

they have GMAC as the MAC #1 slot.... fox is a bunch of n00bs

Actually...

MAC #1 went to GMAC and MAC #2 went to MCB last year. GMAC usually takes the first pick from the MAC and they generally select the number 1 team. I recall Marshall 2 years ago and then Miami last year and both were the #1 MAC teams. It appears that GMAC has their choice from MAC or WAC and if they decide to pic a WAC team, by default, the #1 MAC team would go to MCB.

by definition MCB get MAC #1. GMAC has gotten the #1 team recently b/c they offer the bid early, and as MAC schools, we take any offer we can get. GMAC just invites the team that looks like it will win b/c they want the better team. MU had that bowl last year b4 we even played the MACC game.

That still fits Projection thoughts...

They are projecting MAC #1 to be Marshall and go to MCB. They are projecting that GMAC will select from the WAC instead of the typical #1 MAC team. I don't like it one bit, but I see the logic in that prediction based on recent play by MAC teams. We certainly need to win out.

The GMAC website lists CUSA, MAC and WAC as the three affliated conferences. The issue is going to be the play of the WAC - Particularly Boise State (#21) and Fresno State (#17). Also the CUSA has Louisville ranked (#24).

It seems to me for the GMAC to be a lock for a MAC team, the MAC needs to have a team crack the top 25 near the end of the season and stay there.

Will the GMAC folks consider CUSA a lock or could this year's GMAC be a MAC v. WAC showdown like years past (Caifornia Bowl and Vegas Bowl).

What do all you superfans think? Being my age - I want see us have a shot at Fresno State again.

As usual, Collegefootballnews.com doesn't have all the correct information. If the GMAC Bowl selects a WAC team, the MAC team will go to the MPC Computers Bowl (which used to be the Humanitarian Bowl) in place of the WAC team. Two MAC teams will be getting bowl bids this year.

I don't even expect Marshall to get into the title game.

I think two MAC teams will be solid enough to warrent a bowl this year, but there isn't much room for error. Not enough teams getting knocked off by mid-majors, and the ones that are have gone down to non-MAC programs.

I won't write the possiblity off we will only have one MAC team in the post-season. All the more reason to keep working for a secure second and third bid.

Are you sure? I am pretty positive that the MAC is really only guaranteed 1 bowl, but usually gets the GMAC as well b/c 1 bowl for a 14 team conf is jsut wrong. I dont think they have to give us 2 if they dont feel we are deserving.

The GMAC bowl has always had an either-or clause, but the MAC has normally been seen as the first choice.

yeah, thats what I was lead to believe, and if that either/or picks the WAC, that doesnt mean we get the humanitarian bowl as a consolation

Smart people don't list either bowl as "MAC No. 1."

Historically, the East Division champ has always gone to Mobile, with the West champ going to Detroit.

I don't see a reason that would change.

Because it's in Boise.....in December.....in Boise. During games local stations show weather maps on the blue turf just to boost ratings. Their home opener saw them lose to Hurricane Ivan by 20.

Consolation?

Did I mention it is in Boise?

What they predict really doesn't matter. There predictions are about as good as a degree from Toledo.

I'd go.
