Does anybody know if Omar will be back next week ? I'm not trying to take anything away from AT, looking at his stats from this last game It doesn't look like he had a bad game. Has anyone heard anything?

I have heard form a VERY good source that he will probably NOT play next week. You never know about separations, and pain tolerance, but that is what I was told.

I would not play Omar this coming sat at Kent. I thought AT did the best he could. It was frustrating seeing him not throwing downfield and not taking off running when he had the chance but he is still learning. I think AT is gonna be a stud.
Kent? We simply must win this game for the psyche of this team. The positive side of me says if we win out, there is a good chance Akron will lose another game. The negative side says to stick a fork in us.
First time in 5 years BG has lost back to back games.
BEAT KENT!

The coaching staff clearly does not trust AT, and therefore, I'm not sure he trusts himself. But in our fear that he would make a mistake, we constructed a game plan that failed safely.

I don't think Omar will play either. I'm almost beginning to even wonder if we will play for BG.....ever again. With the way this season has gone, I'm almost afraid to think he might not come back this year and just leave for the NFL. I really, really hope that doesn't happen, but I wouldn't be surprised if it did.
None the less, Turner is currently our starting QB and it was extremely frustating watching him throw screens and quick outs all game long. I just wish we'd call some plays and let him throw the ball downfield sometimes and give Sharon and Sanders some chances at making some plays. What's the worst that can happen, we have to punt? We do plenty of that nowadays as we're averaging just points a game the last two....at home. Brandon said they weren't going to scale much back for him, but he looked like he had a lot more options last weekend than this weekend.
The one thing I think Turner needs to work on most now is, the internal clock in his head. He can't sit back in the pocket as long as he did vs. Akron, he was even sacked on a three-man rush. When his clock hits 1,004 or 1,005, he's gotta tuck that ball and run because he's got a lot of green in front of him. Instead, he was either forcing passes into coverage or getting tripped up by a small (but collapsing) pass rushes.

I agree. Whenever the coach says "we scaled back the playbook", you might as well throw in the towel. How does that make the o-line feel? Sharon? Sanders? What do they think of 'scaling back the playbook' just because we have a different QB. I would make it a challenge to the rest of them and say 'we aren't changing a thing, Make sure AT has a chance to succeed.'
If I was Sharon and Sanders I would be very upset. Let him throw the ball down the field. Akron had two backups playing safeties yesterday and we acted like they had Ronnie Lott out there as afraid as we were to let AT throw it down the field.
When you scale back the playbook, you scale back the players enthusiasm. AT has been in the system long enough. If he can't handle the system, why is he here?

The question is what he might have done to his draft stock this year. Or, what he might do to it next year.

I would guess that his draft stock has fallen significantly this year. I would guess a late second round pick right now. No offense to Corey Partridge, but our receiving corps for next year does not look too promising at this time to me. Combining an inexperienced receiving corp with the inexperience running backs and a brutal schedule leads to what could be a really tough year offensively next year. I would go if I was Omar and I am starting to think BG, as a team, may be better off without him. I would be curious to know how much the commraderie (I know I misspelled it) was truly affected by all the attention he got in the preseason, instead of the team.

That is my thinking. Omar has NOT played as well this year as he did last year. His draft stock has dropped significantly as there are times when it looks as though the mental part of his game is not up to par. NFL coaches will HATE our audible system when they see it, I assure you. He has probably dropped into the 2nd round, as a HIGH ceiling project.
That said, look at Charlie Frye last year. He was a superstar on a team full of underclassmen. They struggled and his numbers also took a step back. If Omar were to return next year and put up worse numbers than he has this year (possibly not even his fault, simply less talent around him) he would be going into the draft with 2 years of declining production...that doesn't look good either.
If I'm Omar right now, I'm strongly thinking that while my stock may not be what it used to be, I have a chance to bail out of a sinking ship while they're still a life raft waiting for me. It may not be the luxurious life raft that it used to be, but it still floats.

I don't know why they scaled down the playbook for AT. When I seen him during the spring game, he was throwing them downfield 30-40 yards like lasers and on the money!!!! I didn't see them throw one deep pass with AT yesterday, We have to be able to stretch the defense with the vertical pass, and that is why we have been able to move the football so well in the past. Any defense will be able to catch on to our play calling now, including Kent.

I agree entirely. We made sure we could safely lose.

I doubt Omar will be leaving us after this year. Like several of you have stated, he has dropped significantly in the draft pick, and you don't leave college without a degree if you won't be one of the top draft picks.

Everyone fails to forget this is Omar's 4th year at the University...
