Chcken Dance

Enough about the game...on to more important issues. Can we get rid of the Fricken' Chicken Dance. It's just downright embarassing. I am sure the cheerleaders feel the same way. I have not seen one person in the crowd participate. They don't even have a dancing chicken for the scoreboard. Can we kill, choke, roast, broil, grill or fry the damn thing?

Thank god "BG" brought this up. I have been to roughly 10,000 weddings in my life and I swear to god, no matter how much Captain Morgan I had in my system, NOT ONCE have I ever participated in that rediculous so called dance. Please stop it!!! Your exactly right Freak it especially sucks when you are already losing the game. NO MORE CHICKEN DANCE!!!!! thats all

......and they always pick such joyous times to play the damn thing!!!!! NOT :!:

  :x

The synchronization and organization of the scoreboard/video operator, choice of videos, announcer etc is a whole other story that very seriously needs to be addressed. The way it is operated now, I would be in favor of going back to a "very plain" old scoreboard, a good announcer (where's Hoffy when we need him), and the band for entertainment. This modern system SUCKS!

I will never, ever do the chicken dance.

But I think they should keep doing it.

It's fun for small children and sorority girls.

Lots of professional teams have something similar. I think they should stick with it.

I agree, the chicken dance is one of the most stupidest things I have ever seen.

Talking about great timing for music, how come after we fumbled into the endzone, and after we gave up a 50 yard pass, the band plays our fight song? I thought bands usually just play that after good plays for us. I hate the chicken dance too...that's worse than doing the hokie pokey (like at virginia tech). And also, what is up with that video right before kickoff, the one that shows highlights from a bunch of other schools, and plays the Michigan and ND fight song, along with a number of others...most schools only show highlights of their own school. And another gripe about the videoboard, could we get rid of the "hit of the game" when it is nothing more than an average tackle?

Well... I think it was pretty much intended to try and keep the momentum and energy up after a disappointing play.... if it didn't accomplish that, well. We try.

I agree about the playing AZZ after not-so-good plays for us. I LOVE LOVE LOVE that song, but it was out of place a couple of those times.

As for the NCAA promo, I thought the same thing when I heard it first kick up, though I got where it was going after a bit (and remembering the earlier conversation here last week or so about it). Still think it's pretty confusing. They could probably do just as well with an NCAA promo video with all BG video/music.

While the "hit of the game" wasn't anything to write home about, they could have the "XXX Sponsor #12 of the game and show Steve Sanders reading a book" and I'll take it. Those clips are all about the sponsors.

While we're on the subject of the game day experience, audio/video-wise, I thought they could have READ the scores on the board, at least for MAC schools. Might have been petty, but I wonder if HEARING that CMU beat Toledo might have gotten the crowd up a little bit, instead of relying on someone seeing it on the board and casually passing it along.

The one that REALLY got me, though, was the "this was written on Tuesday" announcement of coming events. To say that the "women's soccer team will host an undetermined opponent Tuesday" was just sloppy. Almost a full day earlier they WON THE REGULAR SEASON CHAMPIONSHIP and it was known that they'd play Toledo on Tuesday. Errors like that border on unacceptable.

Hey... I'm not trying to be the defensive band kid here. But I have a question for all of you. There have been two main complaints about the band on this board. When we don't play a lot, the complaint is that we're just sitting there, not doing our part to keep up the momentum. When we do play a lot, the complaint is that our playing is inappropriate.

What is it you'd like the band to do, exactly, when several plays in a row (or, okay, more than several, unfortunately) are not-so-good for the Falcons? It seems like whatever we do in such a situation, meets with disapproval.

you do a hell of a job of being the defensive band kid for not trying...

I thought the band did a great job of playing alot on Saturday, canned PA music be damned. I think I probably even cracked a smile as I heard the band crank up over whatever the hell they had going in the CD player. I just think the AZZ at that point was misplaced at those points. I like that the band played even after a turnover or such, and I don't have much in the line of a suggestion, but if there was something that said "okay, get on your feet and scream your ass off for the defense now!!!", that would work. To me, AZZ just doesn't have that kind of feel to it.
