Can we finally, FINALLY, beat Miami?!?!

Post by BGSU33 »

Without a doubt, Miami has just owned BG over the last decade. On top of that, there is only one team in the MAC that BG has a losing record against, and that is also Maimi. It just seems like forever ago that we last beat Miami. The bottom line is, I, along with all of you, am just sick and tired of getting beat by these guys. Enough is enough already. This game on the 15th has still shaped up to be a HUGE game for both teams. Man I wish we had them at home. But none the less, we'll be back on the road, and back on national TV (gulp!), and any chance at a MAC title and bowl hopes for us rides on this game.

The sad part of thinking of this game for me is, I know we "can" win this game, but I just feel like we won't. And before I get torched for having no faith, I do have faith. and I've had faith all the times we played Miami over the last decade too and we just always seem to come up short and I'm afraid it's going to happen again. I hope like hell it doesn't, but until BG goes out there and beats Miami, it doesn't matter how much or bad I (or we) want them to win, we can't control a thing on the field. The bottom line is, until I see it, it's hard to believe it (at this time). But I sure hope we end this losing streak to the RedHawks!

Don't worry... Many RedHawks feel that way about BG. I doubt Miami will beat BG... and then beat OU. Heck, Miami could fall to both. (I think Miami loses to BG.)

Can we finally, FINALLY enjoy this victory for awhile? Sheesh! BG loses and we gripe about it all week, they come out and get a win and 7 hours later we're worried about a game 10 days away?

I know there's alot on the plate for the Miami(OH) game, but there's some savoring to do here!

I am enjoying the win, and if you go back into the summer, you'll find my post about the BG/Miami game on the 15th there too. Until then, if you don't like these kind of posts, skip it and go on to another one....and don't worry about telling people what they should or shouldn't post. Or I guess I could say, sheesh, it only took someone five minutes to gripe about a post.

We've been talking about the Miami(OH)/UT stretch all year, and the talk is good... what I'm saying is that rushing into Miami(OH) talk is ushering the Kent win out the door awful quick.

But whatever... you post what you want, I'll post what I want, it's all good.

**negative post alert

I am less confident for the Miami game than I have been for any game since the most recent turnaround. That includes the OSU and Oklahoma contests. [/negativity]

I think this game is a defining game for the Brandon era. The resurrgence of many lower tier MAC teams (Central, Western, Ball State, OU) and our recent mediocre recruiting classes have led me to believe that this will be our best chance to win the MAC over the next several years. We MUST win this game and the MAC championship this year to sustain this run and bring in a huge recruiting class this upcoming spring.

Our DBs will be the key to this game IMO. Jelani Jordan has been much maligned over the last couple years. He must come out and contain Martin Nance and not let him get off like he did Greg Jennings. I believe that he will be up to the challenge.

We WILL win this game and I can't wait to get there.

we are cautiously confident as we are now playing our best ball of the year, but i really don't know what to expect...does jacobs play? does betts play like betts or ben? can we run the ball consistently? can either defense stop the other offense? will the new sideline rule help bg? will we have a packed house or at least packed student section? will the weather be good?

lots of questions, but looking forward to the 15th. hope you can make it down. good chance for the mac to have a great night.

go redhawks!

Come on, you don't expect people to look forward to the game that could clinch the East for us? Give me a break.

I don't think its likely we'll win. But, what has happened that was likely this year in the MAC? Practically nothing.

I agree with the defining part. This is more than sustaining...we have yet to win the "Big conference road game" during the Meyer/Brandon era. This is the next level we wanted to go to.

To respond to your question, YES! We would not have won the game in Oxford in 2003 had that rule been in effect, but I believe the game would have been closer. I don't know how our guys heard one thing that was said all night. The Miami students were awesome that night and had a huge impact on the game. That's not an excuse or a complaint, but rather a compliment to Miami's students.

I am so glad that Akron lost and NIU beat Central. It appears that the BG/Miami winner will win the East and the NIU/UT winner will take the West. That is what this season should have come down to from the beginning IMO. Essentially, we have the semifinals of the MAC Football tournament over the next week and a half.

I think we are in great shape to win this game.
Our teams health is back, Omar has 10 more days injury free.
The o and D are both playing well and I think with AT having matured we could run some trickery with two qbs in the gun.
Punting however I fear will be undooing, one blocked, or fubed, punt will end any chance we have.
My guess is our FG kickers leg should be better as well.

We have the tools to win this game, we have the tools and players to realy rack up the points and a D that can potentially keep Miami at bay.

I would have to predict a BGSU win!

We're a ways from that. Beating UT (even on our field) is a major challenge facing us.

But if we beat Miami and Akron loses one of the final two (no way they win out), we win the east regardless of the UT outcome.
