The Miami game could be the "mark" game we've need

In recent years, we've chalked up some very nice wins over BCS schools, but we always seem to come up short in the big MAC games that we really need to win, especially those on the road. When was the last time we really had a big MAC win on the road? With the exception of our wins over NIU and UT in 2003 (and those games were at home), we have fallen short in some big conference games against Miami, NIU and Toledo in recent years. Even though Miami is not as dominate this year as they have been in the past, the RedHawks are still the two-time MAC East defending champions. We know Miami has given us fits in the last 10 years, we know we have had our troubles in a lot of our national TV games, and Oxfod isn't an easy pace to win. This game could be the type of contest that we need to win, it would allow us to put a stamp on our MAC resume.

Good call man, it also gives us a chance to show the nation that we can win a nationally televised game on the road with huge implications. The thing intriguing about this game is that it's hard to say who has more momentum right now, BG with Omar coming back and a win or Miami putting up 54 on Buffalo?

I'm hoping it's the former. We need the team to get fired up like never before and rally around Omar if they want to walk out of Yager with control of the East.

We have only one road win against a team that finished with a winning record, and that is Purdue (in the Meyer/Brandon era).

Buffalo turned the ball over EIGHT times yesterday.

I saw that stat of eight turnovers too, and I'm willing to bet most (if not all of them) were forced by Miami. Also of note, it said there were over 20,000 there for the UB game, I bet they pack it in for us too.

Miami is 2nd in the nation in Takeaways at 30 and second in turnover margin/game... 1.78

Thanks for the stat update, and I'm not surprised to read that at all either. Any time BG plays Miami, we know we're not going to have anything handed to us and we'll have to earn everything we get.
The last time...

The last time BG won a MAC game on the road against a team that ended up with a winning record?
1996, a 14-10 win over, you guessed it, Miami.

You have got to be kidding me!!! Is this true? If so, that is UNFALCONBELIEVEABLE!

Not really that surprising.
For starters there are usually only so many MAC teams that finish with winning records...maybe half of them.
Of those half we likely get about half at home.
That leaves us with only 2 or 3 opportunities to win one of these road games each season. And, of course, we've failed in all of 'em recently.

Didn't Purdon't end up with a winning record in 2003? Or am I'm mistaken again?
And yes, I did say Purdon't. Falcons eat trains.
