Jerry Palm's site (collegebcs.com) has BG being the only bowl elligible team staying home after this season. He has 3 MAC trams making it with Marshall and NIU getting the MCB and GMAC respectively with Miami filling in a slot in the San Francisco Bowl. He is saying that the B12 and P10 will not fill 5 slots between them.

He is usually pretty insightfull and his site is accurate but I hope he is wrong here. Friday will go along way to changing things.

The subscription site has the updated data while the freee one is still pre-season projections.

He's the guy that does the rpi and bcs projections you seen in a lot of the papers and on ESPN. I'm not shilling but it is a good site and he is unbiased except for Purdue.

When did they start handing out bowl invitations in September? :?

There's a LONG way to go, and nobody, no matter how top notch their site, formula, theories, or prognosticating chickens may be, can forsee what's going to happen on the field. If they've got Marshall and NIU going to bowl games and BG watching, who cares? We get the chance to put them away between the lines. If we can't do that, then they likely deserve a bowl bid over us.

Right on TG1996, It is a little early in the season for any bowl predictions to mean anything. We have played two games. We got nine more to go. Bowl preidictions are as meaningless as the polls at this time of the year.

Didn't Penn State accept a bowl bid one year before the season even started? I think it was a seaon or two before they joined the Big 10.

It would not surprise me a bit. I remember when teams like PSU and Notre Dame got accepted to bowls based on thier name. Remember in 94' when Notre Dame went 6-4-1 and played in the Fiesta Bowl?

This has changed? If Notre Dame goes 6-4-1 now (impossible w/ OT) I guarantee they still get a bowl game. The same goes for Penn State.

It may not be the Fiesta Bowl now that all the bowls have so many tie-ins and whatnot, but I assure you that they'd find a place for ND. In fact every bowl in the country would rather have ND than any other school, regardless of record(s).
