Hey, Champ here.

I'm known for my signature catch phrase, Whammy!

As in, Gene Tenny at the plate, and.....WHAMMY! WHHHHHHAMMY!

Couple thoughts:

1.) I believe that basketball game was delayed bc one of the players from one of the teams decided to dunk and shatter the backboard in pregame. As hot as it was in AA that day, the incident didn't make the visitors any happier than those that couldn't see it on tv and it shouldn't be blamed on Fox.

2.) I don't know what they are talking about with the weather being bad. It must be precautionary bc when I was down at the stadium (up until 7:00), we were only getting a drizzle at the most. I would guess that winds were less than 15 mph. I don't know where the 60-80 mph winds comment came from. Either way, I wish that they were playing the game and hope that they start it earlier than 9:00, but I will now be watching it from behind the tv. BTW, I passed more people on my way out of the stadium than are in attendance at this Akron-OU game.

The player didn't "decide" to break it. The glass shattered.

It should be blamed on Fox the programming that they showed instead of our game did not involve an Ohio team...and from what I hear its FSN Ohio. Not California or Philadelphia.

Yes you can give me that there are other programs that need to be shown and I don't know what I'm talking about. But if this were an ohio state game there is no way that they would have packed up and said oh well see you later.

You are correct- it was Soler, I believe

Rece said that the Miami Powers that be decided not to start the game and then have to stop it as the bad weather is coming very quickly. They want it to go through and then start the game......
Again I ask----how long do they wait?

Always, I have no idea how long they wait in a situation like this. I think that high school and college teams wait 30 minutes after lightning, but I don't know about these situations. Thanks for the clarification on why it's delayed because it was confusing to me (seeing as I've sat through much, much worse weather for a college game).

Tricky, you may have a point about Ohio State. I don't know enough about their programming to even consider telling you that you don't know what you're talking about, especially on your board.

I dont get it. I just looked at the radar and everything looks fine right now. But theres another nice big line moving their way (and toward BG) and it should get there by 9:30. Great, so they are just screwing themselves with this weather situation.

Hey Capital Falcon

It's "NO WHAMMY NO WHAMMY STOP" I cannot abide an incorrect reference to Press Your Luck. Peter Tomarken and Rod Roddy worked too hard to make that show the icon it has become.

I'm not surprised they delayed the start of the game.

Think about all of the weather related incidents in the past several months. Do you really think the Miaimi powers that be WANT to have the PR disaster of, "didn't they learn from the mistakes of......." placed by the media and public at large?

I'm not surprised and, frankly, I don't blame them.

Safety first, guys. I'd do the same thing. Sometimes threats don't emerge. Doesn't mean it was dumb to take them seriously.
