Despite this loss hurting like it does, it was a great game. Both teams played their asses off and it was witnessed by everyone watching. I was proud of the way we fought and played hard. I was disappointed at some of the very costly penalties that kept UT drives going and some of our playcalling. It seemed when we got ahead, we played not to lose and UT played to win no matter if they were ahead or trailing. That is not a knock on our players, I am referring to some of the play calling in critical times in the game.
What is just mind boggling to me right now is thinking about how this team finished just 6-5 overall and won one....just one.....MAC game at home! If someone told me in the preseason we'd have a losing record at home this year, I'd say they were crazy. But it's true, we went just 2-3 at home this season and lost our last three home games. Wow! Again, a great game, but this one hurts a bunch and is the hardest one for me since the loss to NIU in 2002 or the fat punter game vs. CMU in 1994. Great game, but a Heartbreaker.
