25,186 turn out for Akron/Kent State last night

Post by BGSU33 »

Kent State drew its second largest crowd ever last night in its 24-19 loss to Akron. Nice to see them get a good crowd. But what was up with Kent State's uniforms?! Are they trying to knock off Oregon's fluorescent yellowish-green uniforms as the ugliest in the nation? Yikes!

wow, i remember going to kent a few years ago. Hlaf the stadium was gone, and more BG fans showed. Those uni's look good because i think the color is at least acceptable. They wouldn't shine under a blacklight, and i think Oregon's would.

Kent has a football team?

Its an impressive crowd though, I can't knock that attendence figure. Kent has the bullseye on into back with 1A requirements and such. Maybe they sold the game as a protest Bush event, that might have worked.

They gave away hacky sacs, hemp bracelets and patchouli oil to the first 15,000. There were also 10,000 narcs in attendance keeping an eye on things. That leaves 186 actual football fans who probably enjoyed the game

Now THAT'S comedy!

They probably marketed it as a chance to see 2004 Heisman winner Charlie Frye in action to sneak a few more fans in the seats.

I moved to Stow, Ohio for for a year and I taught I few aerobics classes at Kent's REC center. I would ask my participants if they were going to games and they were CLUELESS! I was amazed. Absolutely no school spirit.

I concur. Their uni's are hidious. *shudders*

I teach a Saturday class at BG now that I am back it town and I am happy to report when I asked the class about the SEMO game, some of them raised their hands. I have to keep working on them though.

I know it's not on this board, but to get all my thoughts out on one post...

So what your saying, is that the next time we play Kent at home, the smoke ring from the cannon will stun their fan into silence and the team will try to follow it out of the stadium?

The Kent State LemonDrops? Geesh.

Anyway, great to see the Flushes draw a good crowd. If they have to give away bongs to get some folks in the stadium, so be it.

I went to BOTH BG-Kent games while I was in college, and I never got a bong.

This sucks.
