Virtually no BG players on 1st or 2nd team defense. Only Mayberry is on 2nd team. No 1st team offense players from BG. Wow what a year makes.

Congrats, indeed. I was just wondering yesterday how many guys would be named to the All MAC teams.

NIU had 3 MAC 1st teamers on the O line....all SR's.

I think the performance last year made it tough for the offense to crack the first team this year. Sharon still had an outstanding year, Omar put up good numbers, but a shell of his 2004 performance. Congrats on them for landing a spot on the second team, still a big accomplishment!!!

As for the rest, the congrats here are beyond well deserved for Kory, Derrick and Terrill. We knew Kory was going to be a stud for us, but Markray was a bit of a "cross your fingers and hope" that turned out very well. And for Mayberry to step up the way he did for the biggest question mark we had coming into the season, this award is well deserved.

I agree, Freak, Warren and Jelani should have gotten a look, especially Jelani, with the big year he had after all the beatings he's taken around places like this.

...and how the crap did we get absolutely nobody on first team? 7 NIU players made first team, 5 Miami players, and 5 Toledo players. Even with a disappointing season, we deserved somebody on the first team.

We weren't any good this year. 1st team spots are generally reserved for either standout superstars on lousy teams (of which we had none) or the guys who played for the best teams in the conference (of which we were not).

Congrats to the guys who made it. If we had a better season some of those guys would've likely been on the first team.

Must disagree...Charles Sharon is quite the standout. Also, Miami didn't exactly have a stellar year themselves. The injury to Omar did him in and he was never quite the same after that.

True, but the MAC is extremely deep with WR talent. In a spread offense, it's hard for one guy's stats to rise above other teams (WMU, Jennings -- EMU, deslawhatzit) lone offensive star.

I'm a big fan of Chuck, because he made so many huge catches for us over the years, but if you're looking solely at stats (as so many of the people who vote for these lists do), you could make a case that Sanders was the better WR. Sanders was the guy who we looked for in the redzone this year, and he was a more consistent downfield threat as well.

Truly baffling to me as well. Jelani tied for the league lead in interceptions with Byrum and still did not make the first team, let alone the second team is very surprising. How can the MAC even justify that Jelani was left off of the All-MAC team? He was tied for third in the league for passes defended with Byrum as well. Not even an honarable mention, WTF!

I'm not at all. When Omar went down, Sanders' stats really fell. He averaged 67/game in the MAC and only finished 8th in the league in yards. He led the MAC in TD recepts, but only 8 were in conference play. I am convinced that he is one of the top 5 receivers in the conference, but he didn't get the ball enough to merit all-conference honors.
