I couldn't believe that Bruce got this award when he averaged only 207 yards per game passing, missed his team's toughest game of the year (at Fresno), misfired on a wide open receiver of his that would have beaten Central Michigan in the end zone at the very end of the game, and was out played by a freshman QB (Northern Illinois) at home as a 10 point favorite and first place for the taking. Just my thoughts. Being that he is MVP of the league then he should go in the NFL draft higher than Omar if he decides to come out, correct? A second teamer wouldn't go before the player of the year, right? ......I think not.

I don't have a problem with it, if not him, who? Yes, he had some shortcomings, but he's been a warrior. He also beat us, again, this time on our home field and has guided his team to yet another bowl appearance. I wish we could say the same. Congrats to him, I feel he earned it.

Like Charlie Frye last year, this appears to be more of a "lifetime achievement" award, and not the best player.

I mean, come on, Charlie Frye was the 5th rated QB IN THE MAC last year on an average team. That warrants league MVP?

The award is called MVP, not MVT. The "P" is for player, it's not a "T" for a team. The voting on these things can get fishy, that's for sure. But if Omar was named for the award, you could make a case for him as well. We certainly didn't look the same against most of the game against WMU, Akron or Kent State without him. We weren't even a mirror-image of ourselves without Jacobs. And Jacobs played on an average team that went just 6-5. But he was an MVP type player to me....and in my opinion, was one of the "most valuable" players in the MAC when you think about what the words most valuable mean. Gradkowski was very valuable too, look at how they did without him and how well they played with him, even in their losses. The loss to CMU ended with a dropped TD pass.....Gradkowski threw it, but he wasn't catching it too.

Without even looking I'm guessing Wolfe.

It was jennings who tied him for mVP.

Jennings is certainly well deserving. Look at thsoe numbers, and how WMU built a comeback year on offense around him. See how he produced those numbers even with a true freshmen QB in after an injury.

I'm not sure I hae a problem with this. To wit:

Gradkowski, a three-year starter for UT, holds 19 school records and three MAC marks. He has thrown for 2,171 yards and 24 touchdowns this season while leading the Rockets to an 8-3 record. He completed better than70 percent of his passes in 2003 and 2004, the first quarterback in the history of the NCAA to connect of better than 70 percent of his passes in consecutive seasons.

I believe this is more of an award based on his three years than just this year. He wins games and is a leader. In my opinion, the award is deserved on the level of career than just this year.

Politics? Maybe, but I'm not going to complain too much.

Yep. Although I think Wolfe should have gotten a piece of it. NIU is going to win the MACC after all.

Player of the year is player of this year...2005 not what anyone did the last 2 or 3 years. Who is the best player in the league? Maybe Mel Kiper could tell us who should be the player of the year. And BGSU33 the pass at the end of the Central Michigan game by Gradowski was not a dropped pass. It was overthrown--Nick Moore could only get a finger on it...watch it again. spike it. Gradowski's post game quote was "It's tough. Football is a game of inches. If I give Nick a better ball, he pulls it in and the game is over." He choked it just like he choked against Northern Illinois at home. Player of the year winners win those games and make those passes.

So who? Don't say Omar. He missed 3 games, laid an egg at Bosie and your agrument against I'm-A-Cow-Ski applies to Omar's performance against Toledo.

Logic would dictate that, however, the voters thought differently. I still don't have a problem with this and find very little reason for anyone else to have a problem with this.

It's not personal.

There are no elite teams in the MAC this year, and very few elite players.

I'd be inclined to give it to Wolfe since his team is at least in the MACC, but didn't he miss a couple of games as well?

Wolfe, Gradkowski, Jennings...all were equally deserving, IMO.
