MAC gets no Respect

You know when your favorite conference is neglected and segregated against when everytime you watch a nationally televised MAC game all the commentary talks about is other games throughout the game! It's really sad and in my opinion unprofessional. I've seen just about more replays of USC or Texas in a MAC game than the MAC teams playing on the TV. Darnit, just go to a playoff system!

the MAC didn't deserve any respect this year. Even though it was a great game last night, our conference has been a huge disappointment this season.

I dont know how you can say that. Yes while BGSU was picked to win the MACC and fell short, toloed was whooped by fresno and as conference our OCC games were not won, those items do not make the MAC a disapointment. College football the MAC was up as a whole this year. now next year we should see even more growth and a even more competitive conference.

Competitiveness does not mean growth. I saw the top teams slip more than I saw the middle teams become better. The MAC was crappy this year. What other barometer besides OOC games would you use?

Well considering this game was on ESPN and not the Duece or ESPN U or The OCHO. There is some respect. Yes they do promote and talk about other games. There job is to keep college football people glued to that TV. Hell if they had to put naked women in the corner of the screen to get peoples attention to watch a MAC game, I would be all for it.

At least a women wasn't calling the game. No offense, but I really hate that.

Also, I lost count this year of how many times I heard different ESPN analysts and broadcasters say how much they love the MAC. I think ESPN did a great job this year.

I hope they continue to promote and draw attention to the MAC over some of these other conferences. I think ESPN can contribute the most to the MAC.

Couldn't agree more.

I will say one thing, it was awesome to FINALLY have a MAC game broadcast in HD!

It was a delicious little broadcast. Although it made me sad that I missed seeing brown uniforms in HD.

Akron has much more respect from me than they did before the game, I'll tell ya that much.

Personally, I thought they gave A LOT of respect by putting Tirico & Herbstreit on the game. Probably too much respect for a game between Akron & NIU.

if i'm not mistaken, that's the usual announce team for the MAC championship.

I agree with that too, our "power" teams BG, Miami, Toledo and NIU were down this year, while the middle of the pack teams like Akron, WMU, CMU, Ohio and Ball State had very good seasons. Teams lime EMU, Buffalo and Kent State were their normal bad selves.

Talking about the MAC not getting respect this year, well it didn't help the first weekend of college football 05' that the MAC went 0-6 vs. the Big Ten.

I didn't mean to be so anti-MAC today, but really, it has not been pretty. The MAC against itself suffered, you've got Buffalo & Temple in the mix. Not to mention how we fared against the Big 10 & the WAC. Attendance everywhere is pretty dang bad. Y'all had me SO pumped up at the beginning of the season & I've got to say, I am completely underwhelmed.

I probably wouldn't have said anything, but I came to find umpteen posts about what a great MAC championship game it was & rah rah, go Akron. I just got a little miffed at the MAC love fest here, when IMHO there was not that much to brag about. Sorry to all the homers I've ticked off. Just venting!
