Bowl-less BG still gets a Christmas gift

Still feeling the sting of how our season came to and end and watching a team that was picked by nearly anyone and everyone to win the MAC but only finished a game over .500, I was thinking of how the holidays just aren’t going to be the same when watching all the bowl games without the Falcons in any of them. The last two years, my Christmas wish list consisted of one thing - a BG bowl win. Although none of us will get that wish this season, it looks as though we all will still be getting treated to a Christmas gift we all can share and appreciate – the Sebo Center.
While some of us are still leery this thing will even get underway, with the groundbreaking ceremony being held the other day and a webcam to watch the soon to be construction, it looks like it’s going to get started soon. While I wish we were still playing and were able to bring home a MAC Championship and another bowl trophy this year, the thought of how much this terrific facility is going to help our program, current players, coaches and our future recruiting efforts, and not to mention the appearance and appeal of our stadium, this offseason will be a lot easier to take with this project underway despite the way the season unfolded. I hope we can get back to our winning ways, but until then, I cannot wait to see our gift come to fruition.
Thanks to all who have or are going to contribute to this facility!

Yeah I agree...The SEBO will be an awesome addition and does help ease the pain a bit. Can't wait to watch the progress and get an up-close look when I'm back in BG next Summer/Fall.

It's unfortunate Bowling Green wasn't invited to a Bowl. You would think that at least with a superstar QB someone might want BG. I'm sure there are alot of dull 7-4 or 6-5 teams with no one worth watching that will be boring everyone in Bowl games this year.

I really doubt if Omar would have been much of a TV draw, either.

Just so we're clear, if we're specifically discussing the MCB, Omar and BG would put more butts in the seats than Williams and Memphis, if for no other reason than proximity.
I think WMU would also, as well as NIU. How many Memphis fans are going to make the trip to the frigid north during basketball season?
TV's a definite different story for WMU and NIU, but I don't see the advantage Memphis would have over us in that department either. I'm not sure that the Omar novelty factor has worn off yet. Plus, if we're talking about the bowl-watching crowd, if they caught us the past two years, they'll want to tune in again. We've certainly put on a good show the past two years in bowls.
This is kind of an offshoot of the Memphis MCB thread, so I apologize for the jack -- The Sebo will be fantastic for the school and it's athletic programs, and it will be nice to see our money at work for the school.

I don't know how familiar you are with the Memphis football program, but they had a tremendous following in Mobile last year. I wouldn't count them out to do the same again this year. Just like we go south for the sun and warm weather, maybe some of them may come north just to experience a little snow and cold weather. I think they will have a good following. GREAT fans to hang out with too!

I thought about that too, but Detroit is almost 2x the distance for them as Mobile is. Add to it that the destination is Detroit, and one might see how they would be less inclined to travel. Other than that, they brought at least 10K probably more to Mobile (their whole side was almost full of Blue) so who knows. It is also on the 21st this year (the 22nd last year) so that gives people and extra day to travel home before Christmas.

The Memphis fans who posted here last year were a classy, knowledgeable bunch. There's a small commuter college in NW Ohio who's fans could take a lesson from those guys.
