Alright, more money wasted on "entertainment". When college football actually has a real meaningful impact on my life I might care. I truly don't care if there is a BCS system or a national playoff. Bowl games are fun. Fun to watch. Fun to go to. And I'm sure Fun to play in. The fact that congress thinks this is important, when there are far more important things to be done: Like actually finding a way to safely and effectively end the crap in Iraq, increasing scientific research funding, helping the school systems really educate students (not just passing some test) and many other far more important things, is just a waste of time and money. But then again this is just a club of millionaires, so I'm sure they are just curious to figure out which way will make more money for TV companies and lobbyist, in turn put a little more money in their pockets, and doesn't have a damn thing to do with the actual game of football or college athletics.

They are doing it to make sure there is no illegal anti-trust situations going on that are economically illegal. And why do you car if congress is going after the BCS. You should be happy when anyone goes after the BCs. It inherently precludes us from ever being a part of the national football landscape and helps the rich get richer.

Oh, well that makes sense. I mean, the BCS only started in what 1998. I mean its taken them 7 years to decided whether they should look into anti-trust problems. Isn't this something that they can spot pretty quickly in today's large company mergers. Again, I believe that it really has no impact on how I enjoy BG football games.

I was not trying to say our elected officials are competent, but that this would be the reason they would give. Perhaps they see all of the money going around in College athletics and the BCS has not tried to lobby them or given money to their campaigns so now they are going after them.

I would have to agree that it is unfair to give out a large amount of money at the end of a season to only a handful of eligible teams determined by vote.
