Another coaching opening

Gary Barnett is out in Colorado. Any chance of Coach Brandon being a candidate?

This actually might be Coach Brandon's most appealing job, but I honestly don't think he's got enough prestige to go out there and be a head coach.

Losing 70-3 in a championship game couldn't have left a good taste in the AD's mouth. That program has certainly seen it's share of turmoil in recent years. They may be looking for a sqeaky-clean guy like Brandon to get back on track. As '87 alluded to, the connection is hard to ignore.

It is an interesting note that Brandon was the recruiting coordinator at CU before he came to Bowling Green. And most of their problems with recruiting violations were from the time frame when Brandon held that position. Maybe he isn't that sqeeky clean.

If he is interviewed then he had nothing to do with scandal, if not then maybe he did and the AD wants to get away from that whole scandal.

I don't think that's correct. Brandon was at CU starting in the fall of 1999 to 2000 and was recruiting coordinator for Barnett in 1999. The thing that got CU in trouble was under Rick Neuheisel for violations involved in impermissible recruiting contacts beginning with the 1995-96 academic year and concluding in the 1998-99 academic year, which is when Neuheisel was dismissed.

You can read more about CU's problems here:

UK:

I seem to recall stories specifically clearing Brandon from this mess, though I'll admit to being too lazy to track them down.

Exactly my reaction.

And GB was cleared of any relation to that whole recruiting mess.

Maybe we can use his buyout clause to help fund the completion of the Sebo?

Brandon has no shot after this season to get the Colorado job. If he had done an Urban and gone 10-1/11-0 then he had a chance but we own Brandon for at least another year. Brandon's next job isn't going to be as a head coach but as an OC somewhere after we cut him loose 2-3 years from now.

I don't think you'd see Colroado hiring a guy who was an assistant under the guy they jut fired.

They'd be more likely to try and nab somebody off of USC's or another Big 12 staff to help boost recruiting.

Or they'll take a shot at the guy in Boise for basically the same reason, strong connections in the region and a great track record.

Flipper, I think that's right.

And the recruiting violations were after GB left Colorado.

Finally, he could easily leave here with a head coaching job. Its less likely this year, but I wouldn't give up on his head coaching career.

Speaking of a Colorado to BG connection, I wonder if Katie Hnida (sp?) has any eligibility left.
