I don't think he has enough size to ever get chance in the NFL...That said, he stays for another year. Just my opinion.....

That has to be a no without really looking into what Wolfe has said thus far. There are number of RBs that come to mind that have to be rated above him if he would decide to go early. Namely Reggie Bush and LenDale White if one or both go early, DeAngelo Williams, and Leon Washington at FSU. Not to mention if either Laurence Maroney or Michael Bush would declare. Also I don't recall a single MAC RB ever going early to the NFL, he would be the first. I have to think he has to be as near 100% lock to coming back.

Good points, UK. As mentioned, his size (5-7, 177) is a major issue. Can't imagine a kid coming out early who ...

1) would, at best, be considered a situational third-down back,
2) has not proven that he can stay healthy for a whole season,
3) played for a non-BCS program that hasn't gotten a lot of pub this year,
4) hasn't been getting any "he should come out early" buzz.

I predict he'll be back next year and ring about another 1,600 yards. He could go down as one of the most productive backs in MAC history.

If he can add some weight, he could be michael Turner-ish. Unfortunately, I think he'll probably go the way of J5. A hell of a player, but just without the right skill set to stick in the league.

j4H: I don't think it's a matter of skill, it's a matter of size. His only chance would be as a situational third-down back and I would rate that as something of a long shot. Those types of players typically are also KRs and PRs and Wolfe doesn't do either.

Well as '87 alluded, he would be a good situational back in the NFL and likely a good punt or kick returner. The concern with Wolfe is his pass catching ability. In the NIU offense, he doesn't catch many balls, so he's going to have to show this skill next year during the season or after in the combine in order to be considered a viable 3rd down back.

As for holding up in the NFL, he seems to able to take a considerable load in college but that doesn't translate into the same load in the NFL as we know. But Wolfe is very similar in stature to that of Darren Sproles and Eric Metcalf who both have made names of different magnitudes in the NFL. My guess is an NFL team would use him much in the same manner San Diego has used Sproles. I'm sure there will be more than enough teams that will draft Wolfe based on his speed, but not until next season.

I guess by skill-set I meant the whole package including size. Bad word choice. Yeah I agree he might be able to be a little change of pace back, but it will likely be an uphill climb for him.

Small backs either are prosperous or get killed. the way they survie is if they can avoid the plague of injuries that would insue from direct contact each carry. Ir jerome bettis is big and built for contact, barry sanders would never have lasted had he tryed to play like bettis.
Wolf would do well to stay for his Sr year, he is fast and strong and does not take many of those power hits. life is different in the pros, but i would venture to guess that a guy with his speed, and stength could play in the NFL and do ok. My gut says he will go next year get drafted and will be behind some other marque back. option 2 i think he would rock in arena or CFL
