OUT-EVERYTHING

Post by BGSU33 »

We were out-everything in this one. Out-played, out-coached, out-prepared, etc. In our NIU/BG predictions I made a heart and gut pick. In my gut, I thought we'd lose but still believed we could win in my heart. Unfortunately, my gut feeling was right, again. We looked good on the opening drive, but from the blocked FG on, it was all NIU. Hats off the them, they flat out whooped our @ss, period.

Boys, I know this is a lot of football to be played, but I am afraid this loss may have just done us in for post season play. Before I get destroyed for saying it, it's just my opinion and one I'd love to be wrong about. But again, my gut is telling me so. Essentially, we lost twice to NIU today. Right off the bat, we're 0-1 in the MAC and not only need to start getting some wins, but we need some help from the rest of the MAC, meaning, we do not control our destiny. I still believe in this team, but after seeing what NIU can do without its starting QB & RB, unless the bowls take two teams from the West, I don't think it's going to happen this year for after this game.

I hope our guys bounce back and I hope we can still have a good season. I'm just afraid our postseason card was just punched out.

No one should destroy you....its very hard to go from here to the West division title.

First, you pretty much need for Toledo to go out there and win, something they have shown no ability to do.

Second, somebody else has to beat them, too. They looked good tonight.

Third, even with those, we have to run the table. And we have to concede we have some work to do before that happens. That Marshall game sure looks a lot tougher now.

Like you, I'm not saying it can't be done. Just real difficult.

I don't think you should get destroyed for saying that. Truth hurts. I wish this team the best. Let's get some defense and continue to build. I almost see this season as a building year. Omar is going to be great! I really beleive that. I hope our coaches can make the adjustments, not only for this season but also for the next couple of years. Let's beat the Thundering Terds and Terdledo and finish the season strong.

If the Browns lose to the G-Men, my weekend will really suck!

A big bright spot tonight again for BG was Omar. I think Omar is awesome! He really, really is. To think if he can stay healthy what we have for the next two and a half years with him is amazing. He's only going to get better.

I just do not like for a minute where we already stand in the MAC and what needs to happen for things to change. I guess the only good thing about this loss is, it happened now and not late in the year where it can be even more crushing. There's still hope for us, I know that, I just know that a lot of things must happen and work out for us. I'm not writing us out, but I do not like not having control of our own destiny, but that's where things stand.

What stinks is we can't even dip baack into MAC play now, we must got on the road to play an OOC against Temple. I hope we regroup and get back to playing as we know we can. We did not look or play like a team that returned as many guys on O & D as we did.

This was one of the toughes losses yet. I was fine after Oklahoma, because we played hard and they are a great team. But this loss to NIU almost reminded me of what happened against Miami last year, both times, but instead of not being able to stop the pass, this time we couldn't stop the run.....and the run......and the run.......

It was said here this week that this was the kind of game Marshall would win year in and year out. And that winning this would signal our ascension to that level. Well, it might have been the kind of game Marshall would win. We got smoked.

That was me who said it was the type of game Marshall would have won in its five-year MAC run, and yes, we got smoked tonight! I smell burnt feathers, and it stinks.

We have choked in every big road conference game since 2001. Lost to WMU and Marshall in 2001. Lost to NIU and UT in 2002. Lost to Miami in 2003 and now NIU in 2004. We are yet to win a big road game in the last few years. We can't win the big ones on the road. We have no problems beating on the nobodys but aside from that. Our only huge road victory was in West Lafayette.

I didn't see the game tonight as I went to a HS game, but Michelle stayed home and watched it. We are both disappointed at this one. From what Michelle said, it just sounds like we went out there and laid an egg. BGSU33, I feel your pain. Now we have to run the doggone table, which can be done but won't be easy. Plus, as we all know, we have to have Northern lose a couple. Otherwise, we set home this holiday season and watch other teams go to bowls. This just stinks. I'm still scratching my head that we got torched by a backup QB and a backup RB. Shoot, they didn't even have Haldi or Michael 'The Burner' Turner. Geez, what the hell happened?!? I need to cut myself off here. I am just really disappointed. I knew this wouldn't be easy, but Falcon Football has gotten to the point where I expected victory tonight! I didn't think we would beat Oklahoma, but I expected to run the table after that. Oh well, nothing we can do now. Let's regroup and take this one out on Temple next week, then head up to Central and get back on the winning track in the MAC!

Football is won in the trenches. Our OL did a poor job pass blocking and our DL was dominated like you've never seen a DL get dominated before. The one thing that was working well were opening holes for Pope, but we seemed hesitant to stick with that gameplan. On 3rd down especially Jacobs never had time to set, let alone get off a good throw.

They had to complete about 80% of their 3rd downs, of course when you're gaining 5-9 yards on every first down you would expect that.

We were outcoached in a big way this evening. We were also outhustled and outplayed. This is the worst this team has looked since Gary Blackney.
