Per Rivals, Anthony Glaud of NJ (not rated) visits on the 13th (he visits Iowa on the 20th) and Herb Bynes of FL (** almost ***) visits on the 20th.
Bynes has narrowed his choices to BG and Louisville. He visits Louisville on the 27.

We seem to be recruiting against the "big" schools a bit more this year

We better land a good one, because we turned down Aaron Opelt, who wanted to come here, and ended up going to Turdledo. I know a few coaches that better hope he doesn't beat us 2-3 times!!

Also a Qb from Va will be here on the 20th as well by the name of Donny Kirby he goes to Cinncy before us

Bynes could be a good one, and it's interesting that he's down to us & Louisville. He hasn't shown up as interested in BG at Scout.com and they haven't done an update on him since November 4th. In that updated he listed his top 5 as Louisville, Middle Tennessee, Central Florida, Nebraska, and Auburn. He also said that he's got an offer from all 5 of those schools.

Looking throughout his offers & articles it seems pretty clear that Louisville has been his favorite throughotu the process. Hopefully we're able to sway him, but the way it reads on scout isn't that encouraging. I haven't watched his film, I'll try to get to it sometime in the next few days, but he sounds like a good one. 6'3, and runs a 4.6 supposedly. He only threw for like 1100 yards last year, but HS stats can be so misleading.

It'll be interesting to see how that turns out.

Scout has nothing on Kirby updated since like February. He lists some big time schools as favorites with no offers. Obviously he's not of that level and they haven't kept up with him as much.

That makes it even more interesting, in that they told Opelt he was too short at 6'2". I thought they were only interested in 6'4" to 6'5" types!
Not to mention that Opelt would have brought 4-500 fans from Fremont for every game.

C'mon factman, we all know how badly Josh Harris struggled in our offense at 6'-1" or so...

I am very serious......they told Aaron and anyone that would listen that he was too short for our system!!!
I know there were other coaches on our staff that really wanted him.

The worst part about it is Opelts coach was Derek Kidwell. Former BG Qb who is now running an offense like ours. He turned around Ross and will be fast tracking himself to move up if he wants. There will be more athletes out of Ross that we could have gotten here. Not taking a short Opelt may hurt our relationship with Ross.

Actually, Aaron should have come to BG and played baseball. That is probably his best chance for a professional career, and I know he was offered a baseball scholarship. He probably won't have the chance to play baseball anymore since he is a QB, and even if he does, who would want to play at UT!!!

Interesting note on the Kirby kid is that his two top targets, nationally rated #1 player overall Percy Harvin and 4-star WR Damon McDaniel both committed to Urban last week.

actually Opelt said that he was also going to play baseball at UT.

Opelt's high school coach told BG that they were going to miss out on a great QB if they didn't offer him, and that he would be hurting them for the next four years. BG didn't offer and he chose Toledo.

Opelt has already said that the coaching staff wants him to get to go through Spring practices in 2007 (which would be his freshman year), but as a sophomore in 2008 he is going to join the UT baseball team and be a 2 sport player. He will count against the football scholarships only.

In the current day, it is nearly impossible to play two sports at the D-1 level, and especially if you are a QB, and if you do, you are doing no justice to either sport. If he plays baseball, he won't be the starting QB, and if he is the starting QB, he won't play baseball........wanna bet? have you ever tried to hit, after taking a year off of baseball? In all probability, his baseball career is over, and that is a shame.
