Cundiff released, Suisham signed. Guess I am rooting a little bit for the Cowboys to make the playoffs now. Good luck again Shaun.

The Cowboys seem to be in a rut where they change kickers like I change socks... every three weeks.
While it's great for Shaun to get another shot... how can any team expect someone to perform when they're getting chances in a game maybe once every other month??? Not to mention the pressure of kicking in an NFL stadium that's already there, if the kick's a potential game winner, and now you're going to add the pressure of "it better be no more than a half inch off center and hit more than halfway up the net or you're done" to it? I don't know how ANYONE could succeed with that.
Needless to say, best of luck Shaun!!!

Yeah, I don't know, it would be hard to keep stepping into Dallas in that kind of situation if you were a kicker. But for the money these guys get paid and the chance to play for "America's Team"......I'm sure they don't mind it too much. Hell, I'd drive myself to Dallas and back and kick for a week and let them cut me for just one of those NFL paychecks!TG1996 wrote:The Cowboys seem to be in a rut where they change kickers like I change socks... every three weeks.

Needless shot at Shaun from ESPN's Power Rankings in Dallas' blurb.

Roll Along!
what was the problem the cowboys had with him that made them decide to cut him? i dont really remember the exact reason, but i think it had something to do with the distance of his kickoffs...
and as far as the espn.com thing goes... thats absurd. to answer their question of "You think Bill Parcells is going to feel very confident if he has to turn to Shaun Suisham for a game-winning kick this weekend?" i'd say yes... he hasn't done anything to make parcells think otherwise.
best of luck to him... hope he gets dallas into the playoffs.

Here's a funny little blurb where Parcells was talking about Shaun this week.
http://www.dentonrc.com/sharedcontent/A ... 8H9O7.html
WHAT'S HIS NAME?: Fed up with Billy Cundiff's inconsistency, coach Bill Parcells released the kicker this week. Then he re-signed rookie Shaun Suisham, who kicked in two games earlier this season.
"We did like Suis-ham or Swiss-hem, or whatever it is," Parcells said. "Doesn't make any difference what (his name) is. Shaun." For the record, it's pronounced swee-ZUM. He's from Canada. "He calls me Scott some times," Suisham said. "He can call me whatever he wants."
It's Dallas' fourth kicking change this year. Cundiff, the incumbent, got released during training camp when he got injured. Jose Cortez (12-for-16 field goals) was the kicker the first seven games, Suisham (2-for-2) the next two and Cundiff (5-for-8) was back for a six-game span — missing two of his last three kicks and having another short miss wiped out by a penalty. Suisham made all seven of his extra points and hit a pair of 21-yard field goals his two games. "I feel very comfortable and confident," Suisham said.

Well Cundiff was their kicker the last 2 seasons. Cundiff walked on to the Cowboys out of Drake , in Des Moines, IA and I actually hung out with him a few times when I was in Des Moines working for a soccer team- Cundiff has a soccer background. He made some nice kicks including a big one on Monday Night Football 2 years ago to beat the Giants at NY , I believe. So basically Cortez and Shaun were keeping the seat warm until Cundiff got back. Cundiff got back but wasn't the same old Billy, so the latest swap took place.mk455 wrote:what was the problem the cowboys had with him that made them decide to cut him? i dont really remember the exact reason, but i think it had something to do with the distance of his kickoffs...
Its funny that I have ties to both CUndiff and Suisham. I should have looked them up when I was in Dallas a few weeks back . .
