Quinn announced he is staying. Vince Young should make his anouncement shortly after the BCS Championship game. We are one step closer to being in the Anthony Turner era.

Don't sound so excited. After watching Turner's audition this year, don't be surprised if we are closer to seeing the Freddie Barnes Era either. I am very curious with the idea that we have a Sophomore and a Redshirt Freshman coming back at QB, both of whom are quite athletic, but we feel the need to sign TWO additional quarterbacks. Although, it does make sense from the perspective that one of them is coming off a season of dealing with a dislocated shoulder (Sheehan).

We haven't signed one yet, but 3 other QBs are coming in for visits in January.

I think most programs feel they need four viable QB's in their system at any one time. Between injuries, redshirts, etc, that is none too many.
Freddie Barnes is not in the same ballpark as Turner from what I have seen, but he may suprise us. Time will tell

One Who Knows seems to think Barnes will not be a QB when he finally takes the field. 8)

From the press clippings I've read, Barnes is a phenomenal athlete. I would love to have that and in addition to his heigth at 6-0 or 6-2 to use at WR. Our two biggest needs in this recruiting class were speed at LB and a surefire #1 WR. At least we're taking care of one of those. Maybe, Barnes could be the other?
And yes, I realize that Corey Partridge has three years left and is a great receiver, but he's a lot closer to Cole Magner than he is Charles Sharon and Steve Sanders. And Cole was not a legit #1 either.

Option: Agree across the board.
If Barnes moves to WR, we're looking at him, Partridge, Ruiz and Parks as our front-line receivers, with Jones & Brantley providing depth. Have to throw Rhett Magner & Benjy Kennedy into the mix, too.
What do we know about Aaron Davis?

If Jones and Brantley haven't seen the field by now, chances are they won't. I would assume one, Brantley is probably viewed as better, could be used in the Derrick Lett idea next year. It's nothing of their own wrongdoing, our WR recruits have simply been better.
Davis played in a option-first offense in HS, but supposedly is blazing fast and has great height at 6-2.
I would assume our current depth chart looks like this:
H: Partridge (Kennedy/Brighton?)
E: Davis/Magner/Jones/Brantley
X: Ruiz (Emans)
Z: Parks (Barnes/Pronty?)
Of course, if a certain converted TE misses his flight from Arizona back to Detroit or Toledo, I don't think many of us will shed a tear.
Barnes.....

I'd like to see if he would make a nice saftey for us , has good size and problably the speed to boot. I dont' see Barnes as a qb for us.

Given all the recruiting we've done in the defensive backfield, I suspect Barnes will stay on the offensive side of the ball. Option echoed the sentiments of One Who Knows, who also sees WR in Barnes' future.

I'm not liking the feeling I get after reading all of this. We all saw what an Omar-less BG offense looked like, and it wasn't pretty, wasn't pretty at all. I think it can be good without him down the road, just not sure about next season. Well, if Leinart can return to USC and Quinn to Notre Dame, why not Jacobs to BG? Just wishful thinking......

I think you people are selling AT waaaaay too short. The kid got thrown into the mix under very difficult circumstances. IMHO, he played more than well enough for us to have beaten Akron (you know, the fricking conference champs!) and he did a good job against Kent.
Given the spring and fall working as the starter, I think he'll be fine.
Barnes played QB as a high schooler, but I recall Brandon stating that he was a candidiate to be moved during last year's recruiting reception.

I still can't figure out why everyone has given up on AT so quickly. For Christ's sake guys, he was thrown into a very difficult situation as a freshman and struggled with his decision making. Is anybody surprised that a freshman who was thrown into the lineup when the all-world QB got hurt struggled?
AT is a very talented and capable young man, and I have full confidence in him if he happens to be the quarterback for next year and beyond. If he still looks lost by game 7 next year, then I'll start to wonder about the other QB's in the system. Until then, AT's my guy.+
Edit: Damn you flipper -- ya beat me to it.

I can understand nerves and a watered down offense that could make Joe Montana subpar, but under-throwing receivers and throwing behind them has nothing to do with that. That being said, AT has a ton of potential, I'm just not sure, he's "that guy."
