SEBO Construction Updates?
SEBO Construction Updates?
I was wondering if anyone had an update as to what is taking place with the construction with the SEBO? I've been looking at the webcam pretty much every day since it was up and running, but the last two weeks there appears to be very little movement out there. I know the holidays had an impact on things, but judging by the webcam, it looks like they have dug up the cement slab out there but it's hard to tell what else might have been done or if they are working on things around the side of the stadium that can't be seen on the webcam? Just curious if anyone can say what exactly is or has been done out there already. Thanks.
GO BG!!!

When I drove by it a few days ago they were working on digging trenches running paralell to the endzone. My guess is that they are either digging up and moving existing utilities right now, or they are working on installing new ones. The way construction goes, it is going to be at least a few months before we see steel beams going up.

I assure you, I am not "The Man," but I still can't be trusted.Jacobs4Heisman wrote:The Sebo Center is a cruel myth perpetuated by "The Man". If you disagree, or come up with any "evidence" that it is actually going to be built, then you are either "The Man", or you are a secret agent of "The Man". ROLL ALONG!
My thoughts exactly. Over on ESPN, they talk about gifts for Oklahoma State, Oregon and Troy. There is a long article about Oregon and Phil Knight and Nike. I will say this much, I was in Eugene, Oregon this past summer and went over to the University of Oregon while I was there. I was blown away! Oregon is awesome!!! I'm not too fond of their school colors (sound familiar?), but they have some amazing facilities! Autzen Stadium - with its recent renovations and expansion and the practice facilities right next door, as we stood at the "O" at the 50-yard line and looked around, I said if this was my recruiting visit, I would cancel all the others and sign right on the spot. The whole complex and stadium is state-of-the-art. Their basketball facility McArthur Court is awesome too. It's this old building, with a mezzanine and two balcony levels, that makes you feel like you’re back in the 1940s for a game expect the interior of the arena has all the new looks. Funny enough, it sits right beside a cemetary (also sound familiar?). I loved it. Before going to McArthur Court, even though I don’t like Duke, Cameron Indoor Stadium was my favorite college arena, but not anymore. Hayward Field, the track facility, one word - wow! Walking around the track amongst the grandstand, all I could help think about was Steve Prefontaine and Bill Bowerman. The campus was very nice as well. And if all of that wasn’t enough, let me just add that the movie Animal House was filmed there – that’s the icing on the cake for me!!! Oregon is an awesome place!

It really is. And it may end up screwing them in the end.Flipper wrote:Wow...I can't believe North Dakota took the 100 million dollars that the Casono owner endowed them with and blew it all on a hockey arena. That must be one hell of a rink!
While the NCAA has given North Dakota a "temporary stay" from their "Let's Be Kind To Indians" rules, they're still one of the top targets for having to drop the nickname or not play in/host postseason games. One of the main issues with ND is that the guy that gave the money LOVED the Sioux logo/mascot, so he left in the will that the arena money came out of that they should implement it everywhere, and they did. Now they have an arena with literally thousands and thousands of Indian head logos painted, etched, embedded, forged into, etc. the walls, seats, floors and kitchen sinks of the arena that they have to cover up or get rid of before they host NCAA tourney games (providing the NCAA sticks to their guns after this year). When the story broke originally, I remember a quote from the facility manager saying he/she finds a new logo somewhere almost every day.
"I don't believe I can name a coach, anywhere, anytime, anyhow, who did it better than Doyt Perry."

Another Virginia story, but when I was working at UVa this past baseball season, I was talking to college basketball TV commentator Dan Bonner who was working a TV game we had down at UNC. He was telling me he worked the D-II basketball championship which was held at North Dakota's arena the year before. He said North Dakota's arena was simply amazing. In fact, he said it was the best arena he'd ever been in, college or pro. I asked him the best? He answered without question. He said the attention to detail, design, amenities, etc., it was head-and-shoulders above any other arena he was in before - and he's worked in a lot of them. I've never been there, but that's what he said.Flipper wrote:Wow...I can't believe North Dakota took the 100 million dollars that the Casono owner endowed them with and blew it all on a hockey arena.
