Rats!
I really wanted him to stay. But to have a chance to be a first/second round pick (and all that comes with it) I can't hold it against him. I don't like the decision (for personal reasons), but I can respect it.
Thanks and best of luck, Omar. I'll be pulling for him!

maybe it has to do with classes starting on Monday and he didn't want to have to enroll.San Diego Falcon wrote:I'd be interested to hear people's thoughts on why he would decide this without knowing VY and Stanton intentions.

Just hope he doesn't go to the Lions and have his career flushed down the crapper. Some of the Lions fans seem to think he'd be a good fit because of BG's system and the Lions supposedly sure-handed WR's. I can't root for the Lions...so hopefully they don't draft him.
The longer the walk, the farther you crawl.
gimmicky offense
see ya Omar -- I still think Josh was far better and Brian (I went to Buffalo for a little while) McClure too
As for chances of success in the NFL? Take a look at Utah's Alex Smith. Took him 'til the last game of the season to get a touchdown pass for the 49ers.
Urban Meyer offenses? Over-rated. MAC QBs? Big Ben never passes!
Good luck is right! Can he turn down his draft offer and come back for the senior season?

Is anyone actually surprised!?
I've pretty much felt this was a foregone conclusion since May when I started seeing how highly thought of he he was going to be in the draft community. His stock fell this year, but he's still a first day pick. He could slip into the first round, but he may drop all the way to the third, especially with how few QBs go in the 2nd.
I hope, for his sake, that Vince stays in school (although I doubt it). I cannot imagine Stanton declaring, and if he did I cannot imagine that he's that much ahead of Omar. Scout.com has Omar as the #5 QB. Ahead of him are Leinart, Young, Quinn, and Cutler. Looks like Quinn's staying, so Omar's #4 for sure. Still, Scout.com doesn't have him in their top 50 overall prospects.

I like Josh as a college QB, but Omar much more as a pro.
Alex Smith will be fine -- that team was horrid.
Urban's "gimmicky" offense seemed to work fine at Ohio State and Texas this year.
Big Ben can pass if he needs to, but that's not how the Steelers like to win. Look at his efficiency rating.
The deadline to withdraw from the draft is Jan 18th.
Roll Along!
