He was around well before any of us on here, but I came across this while researching former BG fullback Jack Woodland, he passed away in Fostoria just before Christmas.

interesting tid bits
jack Played on the 1949 undefeated team of BGSU
and that team played an October game against john carol Univ in Cleveland Stadium, back when cleveland stadium was part grass and part sand multi use.
If i am not mistaken that was the last or one of the last two games BGSu played at Cleveland Stadium.

You are mistaken, as BG, as well as other MAC teams participated in several "doubleheaders" at Cleve. Stadium, I believe in the late 60's or early 70's.... Gad!! I'm getting old when I was at those games, but can't remember WHEN they took place!!!

According to the media guide, the only game listed that BG played in Cleveland Stadium was a 35-9 win over Kent State in 1975. If there were others, they must have slipped through the cracks.Class of 61 wrote: MacMan:

Don't know if you'd call the idea a disaster, but I know that BG played in at least one; thanks TG, for finding it for me...forgot that I have a media guide.... I'm almost positive that there were other doubleheaders (at least one more).... but the attendance wasn't what they'd anticipated, considering the number of MAC alums in NE Ohio.orangeandbrown wrote:That was part of a doubleheader. There might have been one more MAC double header that didn't include BG. Whole idea was a disaster.
I can only say that I enjoyed it..... and if I remember correctly, there was also an NFL (exhibition) doubleheader played around the same time.
