I have read this morn on Rivals.com a article about 2 other players from Virginia we are looking at besides the QB Kirby. The first is Kirby's teammate Brandon Monroe he can either play on the OL or DL he stands 6'3 275. The secnond player is DeNathian Robinson from Hamton, he is a DB and stands 5'10 weights 161 and runs the forty in 4.63

Just curious....but have we EVER had a FB player from Va. before? I can't recall any...seems to be an area that is strong in HS football.... I know that Marshall (logically) and Kent to a certain degree have recruited there...Just don't know of any kids who've come to BG from Va.bg sports fan wrote:I have read this morn on Rivals.com a article about 2 other players from Virginia we are looking at besides the QB Kirby. You're right about Kaminski...I remember him, but didn't count him at the time since Hargrave is a post grad type school, as opposed to being a "straight up" HS..... Va. has a few of these schools, including one, whose name escapes me, that has become a true "basketball factory", placing 8-10 kids PER YEAR in college programs and even the pros.

The only other postgrad school in VA is FUMA (Fork Union Military Academy). The school you are thinking of, I assume, is Oak Hill Academy, but it isn't a post grad school, just a regular private school. If you didn't have the grades after you graduated your own high school, they won't let you in there. I might be going to see them play on Saturday...saw them about a year ago, they are sooo good and so much fun to watch..its totally worth the price of admission just to watch them warm up. they basically have a dunk contest before each game...
Here's a vid from them earlier in the year

That Tywon Lawson kid is sick, he is going to UNC next year...I know there are a few vids on putfile if you search "oak hill". If I go to their game on Sat, I'll post some vids too.

Not to "nit pick" because it's not mt my style, but If you've graduated from your HS and then go to Oak Hill ( and thanks for the name which I'd forgotten), then aren't you taking in Post-grad. kids? It's somewhat like Western Reserve Academy in Hudson, which traditionally had taken in kids who'd graduated, but whose test scores, grades or something weren't solid enough to get them into a specific college....many came from Canada too to play lacrosse for WRA. It's "technically" a private school, but when you take in post grad kids and compete against "regular" HS's, what's your status?

they dont do that though...you can't go there after you graduate from high school...you can transfer there for your senior year or something if you wanted, but its not a post grad school. when ESPN did the 50 in 50 thing over the summer, Oak Hill was one of the stories they did fo VA and their coach (Mike Smith) was talking about that.
61,
As you mentioned, the alumni list from Oak Hill would take too long to post, but Stackhouse, Tywon Lawson and even Melvin Levett from your neck of the woods, were considered "seniors" in the time, albeit short in Levett's case that they were enrolled at Oak Hill. From my understanding, this is NOT a prep school or post-secondary option. It is a private HS much like St. Ed's, St. Ignatius or Villa-Angela St. Joe's.
There are always a few underclassmen on the team as well, but the majority are highly rated seniors. Many, and in some cases, all of them, being rated in the top 100.
