Merritt Island Kicker Sean "Big Bird" Ellis was in Bowling Green this weekend for an official visit. Sean had an eventful weekend touring the campus and facilities, meeting with academic representatives, the coaching staff and current Falcon Players. He even got to experience some of the "evening activities" of BG and enjoyed that too!
Sunday morning brought an offer by BGSU head coach Gregg Brandon. Ellis accepted today and is now a COMMITTED FALCON!
Ellis' comments to follow.......
Info on Ellis can be viewed at:

With a name like "Big Bird", he had to be a Falcon!

FLCoach,
Could you see Sean projecting as a placekicker, punter or both? Reports are we had redshirted a walk-on kicker last season, but lost both of our scholarshipped kickers to graduation.
Tell Sean congratulations and welcome aboard!

And he's got half the school colors already!
Man, 6-5. No wonder they call him Big Bird. If you haven't checked out the link above, do it. The kid is clearly stoked about coming to BG. Awesome stuff! Option: Only kicking stats listed on his page, though FLCoach would obviously know more.

Great news! Sounds like another solid commitment. And if “Big Bird” turns out to be a good one and kicks a game winning field goal to lead us to a MAC Championship, maybe we can name the road that runs around the stadium Sesame Street after him.

Glad he’s going to be a Falcon!

He has a very impressive resume on his site. I'm loading one of his vid's right now, but it's slow going...lol.
Looks like he's kicked some 50 yarders in games and 55 in competitions.
Hmmm, the one vid I got to load so far, he made a 55 yarder look like a chip shot...sweet:D

The longest I saw was 49 on that site, but still nice!
I'm just as impressed with (or more!) with the 80-some touchbacks in his four years in HS!

Mmmm.... nits.
And to add to the discussion, he seems pretty accurate, even with some long ones mixed in!

I've gotten a few of those videos to load now, and what really impresses me is how smooth he is. He makes everything look easy. The 70+ yard kickoff was something to watch.

This is a good get. Kickers are always an iffy proposition, but it's great to add one who looks to have a strong, accurate leg. We badly needed to get a young kicker here. Hopefully he'll develop and have the spot solidified for 3-4 years.

Hopefully he's the real deal and can take some pressure off the new QB and offense.
