Recruit: I am coming to BG

Post by BGSU33 »

I'm not sure who the recruit was today and he's probably been talked about on this board about his BG visit being this weekend, but before the BG/UT basketball game today I saw Coach McCall walking a recruiting around campus. He was a solid looking guy, about 6-2 or 6-3 if I had to guess, with short dreads. Anyway, later during halftime of the basketball game, I ran into them again in the upper deck hall on the way to grab something to drink and as I passed by the recruit, I put my hand on his shoulder and said to him, "Come to BG." He turned and looked at me with a big smile on his face and quickly answered, "I am, I am coming to BG." Exactly what I wanted to hear! Any idea who this guy could have been?

Yeah, that looks like him a lot. His hair looks a little shorter now than from in these photos, but I'm almost 100 percent sure that's who it was. I also saw him sitting in the student section with Coach McCall across from the BG bench about seven or eight rows up later during the game.

Looks like a great pickup! I hadn't heard or read anything about this kid around here or elsewhere until a couple of days ago, but he looks like he's going to be a good one! At 6-2, 210 he has a great build for a QB!

What I think is even better is who else was interested in him. Cal? Iowa? Rutgers? Maryland? Syracuse? All too often I think many of us, no matter how much we love BG, sell the school short. Having visited many schools and attending another, it is clear to me that BG is a special place no matter how many "one tree" jokes and comments we hear. I think it is great that recruits are starting to recognize that, as well. It is so great to hear that kids like Anthony are so excited about playing for our beloved alma mater.

Best of luck, Anthony!

He's out of NJ right? either I read it here or we were talking about it online over the weekend but I have seen it mentioned that we were getting a visit by a qb from NJ over the weekend. Supposedly the Top player in the region.

See I knew I read here. Search hard enough and you can find anything. Just a little more "official" indication that he is coming.

Well ,sorry to burst your bubble but the scout link shows this kid having no offers from these schools you mentined but schools maybe on this kids intrest radar not vice versa. This kid has no rating though whatsoever. At first glance I thought maybe he could be a saftey but at a 4.7 40 maybe not but possibly linebacker.

Wonder if this story might shed some light [END shameless plug]

"Winslow quarterback Anthony Glaud was hit after releasing a pass and suffered a broken left wrist."

This from the end of November. I imagine a lot of folks cooled on him after that.

FWIW, Glaud's team was only 4-6 this year, too.

As I posted in the other thread about Glaud the scout.com articles indicate that a major reason why other teams weren't so high on him was very questionable academics, especially during his Sophomore year. He said that he realized he was having problems and he buckled down his Jr. & Sr. years. He was able to get his core GPA up to 2.50 and scored an 850 on his SAT. Not sure what the qualification requirements are with new SAT scoring, etc, but those are the numbers that scout.com had.

Sounds to me like we're getting a decent football player who might not be the next Einstein. However, it also seems that once he put his mind to it he was able to get the type of grades he needed to get into, and stay eligible for, college. Hopefully he can continue to stay focused in the classroom and we'll have a player here.

According to the NCAA web site, he appears to be OK with a 2.5 and an 850. Depends upon whether or not he has completed the core.
