This is lookin REAL GOOD!! We get a few more quality young men in this class and we should overtake Bancroft High real easily. Next few years are gonna be exciting. Keep up the great work Greg and staff.

Evidently Scout looks more at quantity than quality since we have more ranked recruits.

Wide Receivers? Where are our wide recievers in this class? This is the year you can tell recruits, "We just lost our starting wide receivers. If you come to the BG you'll have the opportunity to play right away."
The loss of Luke Alexander is glaring right now! Remember the promise we held for him after the Spring game last year? Who is our deep threat and who will step up and make the tough catches next year?

Parks. We're fine in WR depth. I'm more worried about how our D is going to respond to a roller coaster year last year.

PJ Mahone may play WR....Brighton is being recruited as a WR...WR Ty Pronty was said to have verballed here and we signed a few WR's last year too. (some kid named Magner was amognst the signees)
Mahone looks lke he could be a James Hawkins type big WR with slightly better speed

From everything I've read about him, Mahone sounds like he could be our next Magner/Sharon/Redd type reciever! The kid sounds like an absolute stud.
I'd love to see him play on both sides of the ball, but I don't know if Coach B has ever done that before...

You kidding? Putting Pope in for kick returns almost started a riot!

Lets play some Iron Man football just like the good 'ol Texas State Armadillos. Maybe McClure has a year of eligibility left....

Based on what we receruitted last year and what we have coming back, I don't see the tall (6'3") and fast (4.45) receiver that can stretch the field like Sharon did. I thought Alexander might be that guy...but now what?
Agreed we have some good receivers coming back that can play the slot and make the possesion-type catches. But what abut the guy that keeps the opposing safeties honest?
I don't know if we have that player next year?

You guys are really worried about our recruiting, aren't you? Well, you should be. We have 4 different players right now that are rated 3 stars by either Scout, Rivals, or both. We also have another 3 star player that isn't public and still have a chance at another 3 star player.
On Rivals, the lowest ranked player is still a 2 star player. On Scout, they don't have any film on kicker Alex Steigerwald so they still list him a 1 star. If they receive film on him I wouldn't be surprised to see him raised up. On Rivals, they haven't reviewed the information on OL Levi George yet. I am told that once they do he will be a high 2 star recruit. Right now he is pulling us down there because he is zero stars.
Of course this stuff on paper doesn't really mean anything. We won't know about these classes for another 3-4 years.

Well I don't know -- we're not the ones posting on your message board defending your recruits when they weren't even attacked. That was the only mention of your school in this entire thread and it was just meant to say that we may be well on our way to the number one spot, which you guys currently hold.
To tell the truth, I give almost zero thought to recruiting services' rankings. Anybody who can't see that their rankings system means next to nothing for non-BCS schools is just kidding themselves. Sure it's great we got a 4-star punter, but who on here doesn't think he'll be dropped to lower than that by signing day because he signed with little 'ol BG? These services do little to no research on 90% of the MAC recruits, and people are bragging and yelling and fighting on countless boards about their rankings. Redonkulous.
The top level guys that the MAC is pulling down are solid recruits, and they are actually researched. But nobody at those sites really knows anything about all the 2-star prospects that make up the majority of all of our classes. Therefore the total class rankings have no merit. The tool that is useful on these sites is video of the prospects.

I, for one, am not worried about Toledo's recruiting in the slightest. Don't mistake a single post as rampant "Rocket Envy" - if there is such a malady.

Not really...I'm too jacked about our class to be concerned with other MAC schools.
I'm sure UT will bring in a quality class.

You're such a slappy, RF. We have three guys who are at least *** on one of the services and one guy who's a **** and ranked #1 at his position. We too have no one on our lists at less than **. I think our classes match up pretty well...in fact, I give us an edge.
We have two things you don't have, Big Bird Ellis and a **** recruit. We also have a coach who can see his own feet without bending over

I've been thinking the same thing Rollo83. I love what I am reading about our recruiting class and I can't wait until February 1st to sign these guys. But I'm also a little concerned about our WRs as well. After some of the great ones we've lost over the last two years (Sharon, Sanders, C. Magner, Hawkins, etc.), I can only hope some of the guys we have who have shown flashes like Parks and Partridge at WR and Ruiz O'Drobinak at TE are going to really step it up and that some of the unknowns (R. Magner, Kennedy, Davis, Jones, Brantley, Hancock, Emans, Knoll, etc.) can step in and play and add the kind of depth we need. The early departures of Alexander and Hutcherson, who were tabbed as our two best underclassman prospects at WR, is a little concerning. Whatever the case, WR will be one of many positions on the team where there will be some question marks heading into next season.
