SW Ohio Possible Commit Sends Defensive Speed to Falcons?

Post by falconfan1 »

Here's an usual source for recruiting rumors/information. I spoke to a current student from Cincinnati Winton Woods HS today on another subject. And this fellow senior says- "Did you know that our star player commited to BG football?" From there, he told me the following:

BG has been at his school visiting etc. and has offered DE/LB/ATH Carlos Tipton a scholarship and Carlos is going to BG. He said he is 6'4" and about 200 plus lbs. Said he can really run and played most every down for WW, but seemed best on defense. Also very interestingly, his classmate said he is a very nice kid with good grades and is a real leader at school.

Maybe this name is posted elsewhere, but it was news to me. I then checked the Cincinnati Enquirer and found a nice article about Carlos Tipton, leadership and college offers etc.- so this info might actually be true! My cut/copy/paste skills are not good. Go read it and all you good searchers can see if there is more info on this potential Falcon.

Unless there are two Carlos Tipton's from Winton Woods, then someone was screwing with you. The articles about him in the Cinci Enquirer are from 2000 and 2001 and he signed with Indiana in 2001.

There may be two Tiptons. A Carlos tipton from Winton Woods came up as a current recruit when I searched ESPN's insider database. Listed as undeclared and considering no schools. I guess we'll find out Wednesday.

bgsufalcons, sorry to mislead with the article. But as the last poster says, he is listed in a data base. And, more importantly, I just checked the Winton Woods HS web site. And a Carlos Tipton shows up loud and clear on the honor roll for 3.0 to 3.5 students. This year.

There is a Carlos Tipton at WW playing football this fall. As I said, the rest was just from this classmate.

We shall see.

Hmm...I work right near Winton Woods (nice area BTW) so maybe I'll have to run over soon and post some BGSUcks posters around there.
UT is listed in the 2004 edition of The Unofficial, Unbiased Guide to the 328 Most Interesting Colleges by Trent Anderson and Seppy Basili as one of the U.S. schools with the “Most Beautiful Urban Campus.”

Per Buckeyeplanet.com, Ohio High magazine lists him as the #66 preseason prospect in Ohio. (6'-4", 245 DE/DT)

Cincy Enquirer listed him just outside their top 15 in the SW ohio area.

http://news.cincinnati.com/apps/pbcs.dl ... 1078/CINCI

they said the following "A rising star. Muscular, well-conditioned athlete with great speed. Scouts say he passes the "look" test, meaning he has the football body to play at the Division I-A level. Most Mid-American Conference schools have made offers to him".

So there are two Carlos Tiptons from WW. That is a little strange. It's not like having two Joe Smiths from the same school. Maybe they are brothers and their parents did the George Foreman thing.

While tooling around the website that Always a Falcon provided, I noticed that they include the academic quiz team in their list of winter sports.

Now, I'm a little biased, but how do you include the ACADEMIC QUIZ TEAM in your boosters program but not include the marching band? Haha.

So where is Sheehan on that list?

Sheehan barely played as a JR, so I wouldn't epect him to habe genratwed too much preseason hype. It will be interesting to watch Glaud and him battle it out. Sheehan sounds intiguing...6'-4" 205, cannon for an arm...I hope we're getting him someone to throw to.

An interesting prospect for 2007 is a QB from PA named Cody Endres. He's another 6'-4" kid who can chuck it 70 yards in the air. His dad played QB at BG in the early 80's. At least they changed the carpet at Myles since then....
