They are a bunch of goons!!!

Post by FreddieandFrieda »

First off,

WAY TO GO FALCONS!!!!

Second,

I just thought I would pass along, becuase no one else is actually on the ice, just how goon-like those punks are. I was standing on the ice as both teams skate out before the game and at the begining of the third period. Before the game, I had the usual glove taps from our players. The OSU goons skated pretty close but most kept their distance except for one PUNK who skated right next to me and jabbed my calf with his stick!

At the begining of the third, I have numerous player skate close enough to me that they hit my shoulder. And TWO different players hit me in the calf as they skated by, this time, much, much harder. Granted, at this point, I am sure they knew that they were going to lose the game, and were taking it out on a mascot who can barely skate!

Of course, me waving a broom at them didn't help either, but I am a bird! Its what I do!

I wish I knew who they were, but it is hard to see!

GREAT! GREAT! JOB BY THE TEAM THOUGH!!!!!!

GO FALCONS!

Freddie

p.s. It was awesome to see so many people there again! Hopefully we can keep it up!

Some things never change.

OSU has always been goon-ish and they will probably stay that way. I worked with an OSU player about 8 years ago. He told me they took pride in roughing up the opposition. Keller was the guy's last name.

He also state that he hated playing in BG because the fans were loud and "right on top of you." That made me smile.

congrats on the sweep! you all are playing well right now. we'll try to lay some more hurt on them tuesday in columbus.

not surprised osu players would say they hate a building like bg's or miami's...they're used to playing in a cavern that's way less than even half full so when you actually have an atmosphere, they're at a loss.

they are goons and they deserve to lose. love it!

Hey there redhawk95...
Last night we talked a little bit about Miami on our radio broadcast. Nothing unusual about that, I suppose, but I live out east now (no longer in CCHA territory) so we don't necessarily give props to 'western' schools as often as we should.

Ok, that had nothing to do with the thread, but I thought you'd like to know.

It was funny reading Freddy and Frieda's post. A friend of mine was Freddie in 1988-89 and told me a story of getting knocked over on the ice against one of the Michigan teams. While he was lying flat on his back, several BG players skated over to see if he was alright, among them were Blake, Emerson, Bylsma. Behind those three was Matt Ruchty (sic). Ruchty was ranting wanting to know which player knocked Freddie over so he could knock him out the next chance he got. My friend new all those guys away from the ice, so he new they had his back. Sure enough, Ruchty leveled the guy who supposedly took out Freddie the next time the two were on the ice.

If Freddy and Frieda have the same relationship now that the mascots did back then, one of the BG players should have stepped up and taken some action. If not, it makes me question the loyalty of some of the players to their fellow students. Of course with a close game and a chance to make a huge jump in the standings, the players may be playing it smart. This team doesn't have the depth of the teams of the late 80's/early 90's, so losing a key player for taking out a player in retaliation for hitting the mascot probably doesn't make sense.

I know that I contradicted my self, but it still would be fun to see the players stick up for their fellow students every once in a while...

I doubt that the players even knew that it happened since Freddie didn't go down and he doesn't exactly talk much.

While it would be awesome to have one of our players level anybody that messes with us, it was no where near as bad as that story from the 80's!

I love hearing that story too!

None of our guys saw it, and besides, they didn't hit hard enough to warrent any type of retribution. Typical goons. Hit hard enough that it hurts, but not hard enough to get caught! Besides, we needed everybody out there to bring in the victory!
