Heading to Lake Superior or Clarence "Taffy" Abel

Post by YoeyCC »

As long as the weather holds decent, 5 friends and I will be traveling the 6 hours to Sault Ste Marie for two huge games against Lake Superior. We went to Ferris St. last year and it was an exquisite road trip over night. This time we will be staying two nighs and leaving with hopefully 4 points and maybe something from the arena if we can get away with it. We'll be representing BGSU quite well and do our best to come away with the wins. BGSU Hockey rules let's beat some ass.

Most of us meet at Antlers Restaurant, Saturday, 4PM for a pregame meal.

If you're planning to go over the border, don't forget your passport.

Be sure to think of us when the horn blows at Antler's...and do your best to keep the horn in Able Arena from blowing.

Beware...there's an Italian restaurant on the business loop just on the south end of town. I don't remember the name of the place, but it was highly reccomended by several locals...it's on the left side of the road on the way in to town, in the same area where all the motels are. The last time we were up there we ate there with Barlows, Wetterbergs and Days..5 of the 8 of us ended up with food poisoning...the same 5 that had Alfredo Sauce. Just a suggestion, but if you end up there, aviod the Alfredo!

We usually go there when we visit the Soo.
I always avoid Alfredo, anyway, but maybe it's the moose milk in theirs that didn't sit well with you.

I can't believe you're actually going. Now you're making me want to come back and go too!

The one thing that did 'sit' well that weekend was ME...on the crapper throughout the overnight hours. I know, "thanks for sharing."

Have a great trip...bring home wins.

So far this year we've trecked to South Bend, East Lansing, and Ann Arbor for the icers, and all three trips were fantastic. Good luck this weekend, go cause some (but not too much) trouble for us.

Quick question: I never sit in the student section, I'm always in the corner down in front of the band so I've never heard the goal count. How does it go?

There's threads around here with greater detail, but basically everyone holds up their hand after a goal, (following high fives, hugs, kisses, "technically felonious" gropes of the hot coed in front of you, etc...) and at some point (end of the fight song, I believe...), starts counting, with voices and fingers, how many goals we have. For the fourth goal of the game, it would be:

"1! 2! 3! 4!.... WE WANT MORE! WE WANT MORE! WE WANT MORE!"

Then start chanting "GO! GO! GO! GO!" and pointing toward the opponents goal.
"I don't believe I can name a coach, anywhere, anytime, anyhow, who did it better than Doyt Perry."

81? If I'm not mistaken, that's just south of Flint :?: It's still a ways away from Dort Highway though. And for those of ya that don't know about Dort Highway...

"Regarding BGSU, I would think their biggest strength is that they never give up, They never slow down and they battle hard even after the other team scores. We have to be on our game and never, ever take the foot off the gas for a second."

"BG was relentless. It's like they know that a good first pass on the breakout from a defenseman will almost always result in an odd-man rush against them - but they go in anyway and dare you to make that pass. All three of their goals were just grit and effort. That's a team any fan can be proud to support...they give all they've got."
