Falcons loose 3-1 against Alaska Fairbanks

Post by FalconBlue »

The Falcons played well but UAF gets the sweep in Fairbanks. The empty net goal iced it for UAF. The Falcons played fairly well but came away with no points.

DEFENSE wins games and once again Pooch made some poor decisions and the team remains 11th in the CCHA. Home ice in the 1st round of the playoff is probably not achievable this year. Playing hard and loosing just does not cut it anymore.
If you're ridin' ahead of the herd, take a look back now and then to make sure it's still there.

Why don't you ask him?

....But for the purposes of discussion here on this board, what specific coaching decisions are you referring to?

"BG was relentless. It's like they know that a good first pass on the breakout from a defenseman will almost always result in an odd-man rush against them - but they go in anyway and dare you to make that pass. All three of their goals were just grit and effort. That's a team any fan can be proud to support...they give all they've got."

While you're asking him, why don't you also call the linesman that blew the whistle to call "too many men on the ice" after we pulled the goalie. It was only a one goal game at the time and we had control in the UAF zone. Even though we shouldn't have been in that position to begin with, it still took any chance we had and threw it out the igloo.

Please, if you will, explain the poor decisions that Coach Paluch made. Be precise, giving exact events, backing up your arguments with well documented and thought out explanations of what should have been done in each questionable situation.

I'm sure Coach Paluch will be interested in your insight as he is very open to opinions and suggestions. Especially from someone such as yourself with so many years of experience and knowledge.

Edit: No cheating...these should be your own insights and opinions, not the opinions of someone who has a more emotional attachment to the team than yourself.

im sorry, we didnt not play well if we got swept. there is NO way to say that we played well in a sweep...we didnt not play well enough to win the games, and if youre not playing well enough to win games, then youre not playing well. there are no moral victories. the fact of the matter is that we are next to last in our conference and that is unacceptable. our defense flat out SUCKS and the offense didnt show up only scoring 3 goals in 2 games against a freshman goalie. 3 goals in 2 games will not get it done for this team, we need to score 5 or 6 goals a game for me to feel comfortable that we can win...but right now, the team seems lost out on the ice, and its mostly the defense. hopefully we can turn it around this weekend!

You know what, I'm sick and tired of everybody questioning Coach Paluch's decisions. Scott is the coach, plain and simple. If you can do a better job, and believe me, you can't, then why not apply for the job. How the hell can you say he made bad defensive decisions, when you weren't even there! You think you can come to those conclusions by listening to the radio? I understand that everyone is frustrated with the way the season has gone, I am too, but get off Scott's back. He is doing the best job possible, and the players are doing the best they can. Sometimes it just doesn't happen. I've been watching this game for years, and I've played this game for the last 16 years, sometimes you can have, what you think, is a really good team, but it just doesn't come together. Everybody works hard, but for some inherent reason, it doesn't happen. The boys aren't going out there and playing to lose...when you play a game, do you go into it playing to lose? I highly doubt it. It's a matter of a whole bunch of factors that have to mesh together for things to work. And some of those factors are not able to be seen or heard. For the most part, we have a pretty young team, they WILL get better, and they WILL become stronger and more mature. I realize that it seems like it's taking forever for this team to turn around. Good things come to those who wait. Patience folks, that's what we need. And the boys and the coaching staff need all of our support. I am a Falcon, and will always be a Falcon. I will support the Falcons through the good times and the bad. Be proud of Bowling Green, it's a great University and a great city. Thank you for listening and have a nice day!

My origianal post was in response to FalconBlue that said that Coach Paluch had made mistakes in coaching. I am still waiting for FalconBlue to site some examples of coaching mistakes.

I may pose questions to provoke discussion.

Like many of you, I think that Scott and Ron and Jamie are doing a great job. Like you I am also mystied by this season.
I do not think that stupid plays on the ice, stupid penalties or questionable officiating are examples of poor coaching decisions.

Thank you, '86!!! I truly appreciate your comments and I agree with them, COMPLETELY! It's very tough to stay positive when things aren't going the way you'd like and even more so when you know the potential is there for great things. I understand how frustrated people are, as I am too!!! I am also sure I am not NEARLY as frustrated as the coaching staff or the players are. Hang in there BG hockey fans, things WILL get better!! I expect a hard fought, tough series this weekend, and I expect a sweep out of this team! Will we get it? I don't know, but I ABSOLUTELY refuse to believe we will get swept!! THAT SAID.....

GO FALCON ICERS!!

There's several mistakes I've seen from Pooch.

First, if you're going to wear a light blue shirt with a black suit, make sure the tie has some basic blue color.

Second, if you're going to tie a Shelby knot you absolutley MUST have the dimple in the middle of the tie. If you want a four in hand knot, tie one.
