First, welcome back. It's been a little while. You should make it a habbit of coming on over for some hockey talk.

I just got around to reading that post. Very well stated, indeed.

Couple things: UNO fans are the only fans who remember and/or bring up Sharpiegate outside of UT. We don't pay it much mind, but I had to cite that incident as reason for some photoshopped images - which were creative.

Another: To this point, everything has been pretty fun banter. It's hasn't - nor, hopefully, WILL it - fall into a personal p!ssing contest.

Lastly, the naked guy running at the bus was quite funny. The anonymity of it brought out the fun jabs. Omaha probably doesn't have sheep.....but Kalamazoo MI DOES! :-D
Yea, I had to run through my email history to find my username and password for the site.

The unfortunate thing about these message boards are you tend to get the chaff along with the wheat. The signal-to-noise ratio is sometimes hard to get through, but you can always find some good at the heart of the discussion. Often enough, you'll get those who are only there to cause the issues and rarely have a relevant point to contribute. Addiction to Hockey comes to mind...Mavpuck and USCHO have been forced to suffer his insolence. For us, it was AtH. For you, I guess, it's AJ. The problem that I have is ... I'm torn. AJ is a good friend of mine, but he is still sometimes a lil' overbearing; especially so when it comes to a team he has a real hatred for.

In my mind, Sharpiegate stands out to UNO fans because we don't have to deal with anything like that around here. Most of the players that tend to be a problem like that find a funny way of disappearing very covertly before they become a public problem. We have never had suspensions to deal with, and it's always fun to poke fun at someone else's "burn". That's life though. The thing is, until something else comes along, that's all we'll have to deal with. Frankly, it was amusing then and it's still kinda funny what happened afterwards. Hint your players should do something even worse, and Sharpiegate would disappear into the mist.

As far as making it a habit here, that'd require freetime. Hell, I haven't even really been on our boards. I'll poke my head in now and again...

There's only one word to really add to your post and that is YET. This was the first real big thing to hit BG. Up until this became public, we thought it didn't happen at BG either. As long as your fans remember how they responded to the situation at our school, so when it happens at yours.....

These are college students and they still do dumb things. To expect them to go through 4 years of campus life without doing even one thing that's stupid, is like throwing a steak in front of a lion and telling him "no!" It was very unfortunate that a night of partying ended up in that whole situation. It wasn't the first time it happened on a college campus and it sure as hell won't be the last.

That is true. There is always a chance that something could happen to us; or any team. I feel, though, that our coaching staff has a pretty good handle on the pulse of the players and have a strong doubt that something like this would happen.

*however*

I'm sure the coaches had a feel for the team there when it happened too...

I'm not saying it's not possible, but I think this team is a little above that in terms of attitude and maturity.

Heh. With all due respect, you are giving your boys way, WAY too much credit. You don't have a team full of saints - they're college aged kids who on top of that, play hockey. Karma is a strange, strange animal...

It is not my intention to do away with government. It is rather to make it work - work with us, not over us; stand by our side, not ride on our back. Government can and must provide opportunity, not smother it; foster productivity, not stifle it. ~Ronald Reagan

You make the generalization that all college aged kids who play hockey are inherently evil, then. I still am a college aged kid who likes the play a lil puck for fun now and then, and I'm not evil. Knowing several members of the team personally, I would say that we have a good bunch of kids who know how to keep things in check. I don't expect to have any problems on or off the ice like other schools have. Call it a gut feeling, I just don't see this happening to our team anytime soon.
