good for Columbus, good for Ohio, maybe it will feed players to BG
I'm becoming more persuaded that hockey will thrive in Columbus. Nationwide is one of the nicest places to go for a game, with all the amenities in the neighborhood.

I agree that C-bus is starting to become a decent hockey town. But, this won't get players to BG. If anything OSU will have a step up on recruiting.

I agree it's good for tOSU but for BG and Miami as well. IMO, the USHL is the premier junior league for kids who go the US college route and it puts them much closer to these schools rather than having to pull kids in from Iowa and the other states to come here. Arguably the Indianapolis team being closer may have helped w/a few kids signing and I'd think this would help even more.

Getting kids to come to BG has NOTHING to do with what city they are playing in, but EVERYTHING to do with the coaches doing the right recruiting to convince the kids that BG is where they should be!!! Many kids who play in the USHL don't come from the city they are playing in, therefore wouldn't have any special allegiance to that city (as with your OSU line of thought).

GO HOCKEY!!!

One other hockey related note: Talked with Jordan Sigalet after the 9:30 graduation yesterday. He is doing GREAT, feeling GREAT, and looked GREAT!!! Glad things are going so well for him. He hopes to re-sign with Providence soon, since he had been on a one year contract.
"Regarding BGSU, I would think their biggest strength is that they never give up, They never slow down and they battle hard even after the other team scores. We have to be on our game and never, ever take the foot off the gas for a second."

"BG was relentless. It's like they know that a good first pass on the breakout from a defenseman will almost always result in an odd-man rush against them - but they go in anyway and dare you to make that pass. All three of their goals were just grit and effort. That's a team any fan can be proud to support...they give all they've got."

I think both points are good. The advantage (IMO) that OSU has would be that many kids both playing for C-BUS as well as the other USHL teams may want to visit the OSU campus, arena while they are there and they also may get a better feel for the city and area (good and bad) as they make several trips a year over the course of their USHL career.

In addition, it shouldn't cost Markel, Jones and Brent too much $$ to see all these kids play.

Nor Paluch, ??? and Fogarty.
A drive to Columbus is a heck of a lot cheaper than a flight to Omaha or wherever. I think it will help BG and Miami as well as OSU.

I agree - see my earlier post. It seems tough to recruit that league w/all the WCHA teams and Neb - O in the area but having Indiy and C-Bus brings it closer to the 3 OH schools.

I would like to point out that Omaha has a USHL team that plays in the very same building as the UNO Mavericks do, so this isn't an unprecedented move as far as a USHL team in a CCHA team's hometown.

This moves brings the USHL footprint closer to the CCHA's and is a good thing.
